acclaimed russian producer, dj and live musician kito jempere is back with a stunning second album, this time on italian label hell yeah. entitled sea monster and due for release in early 2017, the nine track album is a fantastic fusion of live instrumentation and electronic production. kito jempere is a musical polymath. the russian artist, producer, multi-instrumentalist and band leader has been involved in many projects over the last ten years plus. these range from rock to acid jazz to electronic bands and often call upon a rotating cast of other members who are all equally talented. from playing in small bars to headlining big shows for thousands of people in saint petersburg, he has put out a number of albums and singles on labels like freerange, room with a view and hell yeah and djs around europe. jempere plays live as the kito jempere band, and here he calls upon his bandmates for their many skills to lend the album a richly musical feel.

reissue of this very rare gospel/disco masterpiece, originally released at only 1000 private-press copies, and surprisingly unknown and underrated until today. calvin bernard rhone, a native of los angeles, has been ministering in word and song for more than 40 years throughout the us and abroad. he acknowledges that he is passionate about music, yet purposed for ministry. beginning his professional singing career at age eight, he has shared the stage with possibly every major gospel artist from the 60’s to present. in 1983, he released the album intimate friends on his own label, c.b.r. records. recently discovered by dj and collector charles maurice, the lp has never received the attention and fame it deserves. it was anyway obvious for the dj and favorite recordings, that some of the tracks it includes would for sure become real classics for all disco and funk music lovers and deejays. officially licensed to calvin b. rhone himself, its today reissued for the first time, as a 3 tracks vinyl single.

the ep was recorded with the purpose of showing the artists recordings, surroundings and evolving deep atmospheres. it has a vintage and lo-fi nostalgia. landscape recordings, atmospheric warm pads and crazy drum machines played on the vinyl. first side was meant to be heared in a house while chilling with your friends after a long day of skating. b side is club orientated. watch the streets, get your kicks on and be nasty

billing themselves as crew of beat junkies raised in the legendary sugar shack studio,difusion make their first appearance on their own label in style with some righteous edits that make some decisive cuts where it counts for pure dancefloor dynamite. losing me is more of a rolling breakbeat inflected house workout with a deadly delay treatment on the vocals that drops in at just the right time to surely set a club off at any hour. get up is a more sultry cut but it still hits heavy, and be truthful and change it both offer up differing soulful angles to make this a highly versatile record for all kinds of situations.

new years deal - the next chapter in the creme organization ecplise series comes from cosmic garden with three original tracks and one remix from orgue electronique. little is known about cosmic garden other than he is from southern italy and has had two eps out in 2016, one on hotmix and one on cosmic rhythm. he heads out the blocks here with reptilian treant , six minutes of lo-fi deep house that is roomy and atmospheric. lazy synths bring soul and a gentle chatter of claps and hits helps drive it along. rare centaur is also way below the surface but is darker and more celestial, with turbulent bass, frantic claps and angelic chords glowing like a white light at the end of a tunnel. dutch house and electro don orgue electronique then remixes reptilian treant into something that is slick and serene, with metallic lines dancing above rubbery drums as big piano chords boucle up top. it is joyous and colourful and truly majestic before final track apocalyptic moose takes us back down into a mournful house vibe that echoes chicago with its roughhewn analogue textures and lovestruck chords.

nutabe still traveling between sounds we like. dijon triathlon is the solo project of jose santamaria, who for the second reference of discos nutabe brings with him the synthetic and diminutive of house music. pandemia its an ep that returns to the early and mid-2000s, when the microhouse takes the worlds dance floor. three beautifully produced sound and impeccable cuts, where each element has a meticulous preparation and a single order. simple sounds that fill a full dijon triathlon style.

jack cutter is a songwriter and guitarist based in the san francisco bay area in california. he started with a $5 banjo just after finishing high school. in university, during the late 60’s, he performed with bar bands in buffalo, new york. after completing university and a year as an aerospace engineer, he decided that attack helicopters were not really what the world needed and so he headed off to california in pursuit of music and mystic times. fast forward to fall 2014: jack is playing his quintessential tune, ‘gift of our fathers’ in the sf bart subway to an onslaught of morning commuters when he was spotted by 40 thieves. eureka! love at first sight and in the next few months, two of jack’s original acoustic pieces were given the 40 thieves treatment. enter david sanderson aka david harks, a singer, songwriter, producer and label curator from the east sussex region of the uk. ‘having fallen in love with the cosmic boogie (of 40 thieves classic ‘backward love’) i really felt i would love nothing more than to write a tune with them. layne got back in touch with a track he was working on entitled serpent strut with jack cutter and we worked via email over a few months to brew up that misty soul.’ deep, stony, psychedelic, drawing from the well of hawkwind, joni mitchell, david crosby, baffo banfi and tolkien-tinged acoustic led zep, the proof of concept is now complete and in the capable and loving hands of claremont 56.

for 07 ruff draft enlists twins who turns in a dark, dystopian, club sound scape that hits all the right spots. hayworth is another alias of a well known producer to us ruff drafters, here he creates a track with an intro that teases and teases you before the beat drops and things get all sweaty. cottam digs out some acid from the hard drive, an old forgotten about track that finally gets a release.

the bush is a homage to the place where i have lived for the last decade (askew road). the askew road itself is slowly changing so i wanted to document all the places that play a big part in mine and my families lives before they eventually get sold for more flats or tescos. first up was peckings studio 1 record shop, which has been on this stretch of road since the 1960s. next up is the mighty sun pub which became a local talking point when they sold the place because a sign sat in the window that announced this bup is close.

hercules & love affair frontman andy butler resurrects his revered debut solo ep, reworked by arttu & dan beaumont & luke solomon. originally released on butlers own mr intl imprint earlier this year, the impassioned vocals of rising nyc star richard kennedy are infused with grandiose charm in this unique new alchemic explosion.

the raw ten is a collaboration between pittsburgh track authority and nic offer of !!!. *funny thing* is the first release by raw ten, a brand new collaboration uniting pittsburgh and new york city for maximum dancefloor devastation. following the path laid down by inner city so many years ago, *funny thing* is a vocal techno beast ready to do damage in the sets of deejays from deep underground all the way up to more mainstream. everyone will be vibing together in dance thanks to the soulful vocals of lou tanning alongside classic techno chords, but with banging drums and production values that could only come from today. in case the original wasnt enough, detroits church boy lou was enlisted for the remix, and it is a dubbed out jacking monster itself. jams as distinctive as these deserve to be treated right, so each one gets a full side 45 rpm cut from one of americas best dance music mastering engineers, dietrich shoenemann. the original full-color sleeve artwork is done by up-and-coming pittsburgh artist julie mallis.

new yorker elliot taub graces this 8th kinfolk release with 3 trax of varying intesity. do that dance is an uptempo melodic bass and synth heavy dancefloor jam. thirteenth roll in a bakers dozen takes a slower spaced out route. 10 dollars conitnues in the same mode but this time with guitar and a super heavy synth line pushing the driving force along and finally soft rocks grab a hold of 10 dollars and turn it into a john carpenter-esque electro groover.

the man behind the end of level boss label, cyclonix, delivers 2 club tracks just the way we like them. already tried and tested in the clubs by our man cottam, who fell in love with the tracks on first listen. they demand to be played in the early hours of the morning in dark basements from nottingham to leyland and beyond. label boss cottam takes over the b side with a leisurely walk back from the supermarket taking the scenic route for no apparent reason.

beach mode (keep it simple) is the perfect snapshot of ikonikas new album aerotropolis. it is also her first vocal track, graced with the voice of *one to watch*, jessy lanza. beach mode combines sunny salsa-like chords and claves, inspired by latin freestyle dance music from the 80s, with jessys vocals cutting in over some soaring rough synths. it is a refreshingly straight forward and sensual piece of pop dance. side b starts with a dub mix for all the vocal haters, while the percapella version breaks it down into a syncopated drum track and a slightly dubbed take on the vocals, giving it a tracky and colder toughness reminiscent of early chicago house music. get into beach mode.

magic feet are gaining momentum after the superb tommy awards ep, and welcome timothy j fairplay to the fold for their third release. fairplay is a rising star of the uk underground and recently opened proceedings on bird scarer, the new vinyl-only initiative from andrew weatherall, with the sprawling cosmiche flecked brilliance of >the final reel<, and has also contributed to the output of astrolab and world unknown. fairplay has little interest in making functional dance floor records and delivers four cutshere that plough a distinctly epic path through post 100bpm electronic music that is framed by both cinematic and musical references. limited to 300 hundred copies only.

rhythm odyssey is a production alias of the one and only dean meredith (chicken lips, goat dance etc) here he has teamed up with dr dunks (eric duncan, rub-n-tug) and tis second part of their 2 12 series, the duo have crafted some deliriously good mid-tempo balearia, circles could be a long lost remake of e2e4, and has sunset moment written all over it. >glow< takes the same ingredients and transports them into early 80s dubbed out territory - superb!
