esteban adame cut his teeth djing at the ditch parties and house parties of east la in the 90s. he then moved to detroit to apprentice with mad mike banks, performing as part of los hermanos and galaxy to galaxy. more than twenty years on, he still lives and breathes music. this is his debut record for mister saturday night records, raw and joyful.

funkadelic have created an enduring legacy, and the power of their impact is visceral in detroit. their records not only played with genre, but possessed a diabolical sense of humour that led to music domination by the late 70s with parliament, funkadelic, parlet, bootsy’s rubber band and the brides of funkenstein all releasing albums the same year for two years in a row. the music itself is beyond stereotype, but equally huge is that they were a black band not allowing themselves to be limited by anyone else’s notions of who they could be, having a massive impact on the next generation of detroit music, detroit techno. but more than just techno, it is a freedom of thinking that extends beyond boxes, so we included all sorts of today s generation of detroit musicians and producers to show the wide range of music that was funkadelic and how these ideas are still contemporary, they endure and inspire.

new talent from detroit. hazmat s infinite silence ep is as deep as they come, and is the first release in a new series of detroit artist releases from third ear. following on from third ear s landmark detroit beatdown series, the new detroit deep series of releases is just that. hazmat has played keyboards for artists such as bilal and mary j blige, as well as detroit legends kenny dixon jr, amp fiddler and delano smith. along the way, he started to make his own beats and his own tracks and is now ready to take things to the next level. he also plays keys with motown legacy artists touring bands, such as the the four tops, the detroit spinners, the gap band. it s not all about the beats and the synths, though. hazmat s work using the talkbox is right up there.

we re really excited to be able to put one of our favourite ever wotnot releases to wax. it s a release that makes us particularly proud as we convinced k15 to let one of his house tracks out of the archive for the first time ever, as well as securing one of the few tracks to have been heard from up-and-coming wunderkind glenn kelly (jeeks), before he retired early from the circuit. four years after it dropped digitally, featured artists k15 and imyrmind have become household names, releasing music with eglo, wild oats, tartelet and money $ex records among others. this re-release also includes a new track from sexruleseverything who also featured on the original release. the tracks on this ep still stand strong, and the vinyl drops alongside the release of dancefloor sweets vol. 2, with more to come in 2017.

following the successful reception of klodio s debut ep, the tokyo-based producer spent the year playing shows in japan with various upcoming artists like fulbert and label co-founder alixkun, and taking part in disruptive events such as pow wow school of music. when klodio decided it was time to start recording his second ep, he took a slightly different direction, going from techno-influenced detroit house to house-influenced detroit techno. -shinagawa sunrise- is a fast-paced retro-futuristic jazz jam which climaxes on a fantastic sax solo by the young and talented ilia skibinsky. daiba goes a step further in this techno journey, flowing from glowing, light, syncopated chords to a dark and aggressive atmosphere, and back again to the relaxing chords. more polished, singular, deep, and yet aggressive than -toktroit-, -rainbow bridge ep- brings another stone in the asia-infused universe that the french producer is bringing to the world of electronic music.

portland producer strategy is back with two unique house cuts. his wide range unique music is released from 100% silk, kranky and endless flight. a side, >luna< is very unique sound which is difficult to categorise. but if we say, it is like detroit techno remix of synth pop ... b side, >the saga< is his trade mark dubby house sound but bit more gorgeous and uplifting.

new years deal - the next chapter in the creme organization ecplise series comes from cosmic garden with three original tracks and one remix from orgue electronique. little is known about cosmic garden other than he is from southern italy and has had two eps out in 2016, one on hotmix and one on cosmic rhythm. he heads out the blocks here with reptilian treant , six minutes of lo-fi deep house that is roomy and atmospheric. lazy synths bring soul and a gentle chatter of claps and hits helps drive it along. rare centaur is also way below the surface but is darker and more celestial, with turbulent bass, frantic claps and angelic chords glowing like a white light at the end of a tunnel. dutch house and electro don orgue electronique then remixes reptilian treant into something that is slick and serene, with metallic lines dancing above rubbery drums as big piano chords boucle up top. it is joyous and colourful and truly majestic before final track apocalyptic moose takes us back down into a mournful house vibe that echoes chicago with its roughhewn analogue textures and lovestruck chords.

reggie dokes will be back this fall with another ep on his own label psychostasia. after a long hiatus he returned last spring with his fresh detroit house sound. now, we re happy to present his follow up, new york ep.

kicking off this four track ep is one of yuri s most dynamic productions to date. wildly oscillating synths and snapping handclap-led house beats drive east west connection , while what starts out as an acid synth shifts through a cycle of changes before evolving into a detroit-style riff. both nervous arp and morning at home take the same palette of sounds into much deeper territory, touching base with electro funk and straight up jazz-fusion, highlighting yuri s versatile musicality and distinctive production style. modular is an older track of yuris - a non-stop ride through wonky, synthesized fusion with hypnotic keys and rolling drums.

this is the third record of the modern house quintet. this new one features one house/deep house track (a side) and a more “detroit-atmosphere” cut on the b-side. “belle-ile” opens with a filtered piano organ which responds to a massive bassline. the second part of the track introduces gradually a flute line, a trumpet sample and a layered pad.“fountain” starts with a pad which is progressively defiltered and quickly joined by a bassline. the break introduces an acid bassline, supported by a string chord. all these elements blend together to create a detroit atmospheric vibe.
