double ten inch pack edition of the debut release from love interest, a newly minted label from the juno records enclave. minneapolis based electroboogie crooner nyteowl has been handed the honour of the debut release with the prince-leaning >love of mine<, and this edition features remixes from both brassica and astro chicken founder hyboid. given the nature of their output, both are perfectly placed to tease out the nuances of a 80s referencing electronic soul track and brassica in particular excels, extracting gleeful new levels of texture out of the synth sounds with a truly twisted remix. hyboid adopts an outer galactic electro poise reminiscent of his finest output on astro chicken, and if vocals arent your thing, check the b-side of each ten inch slab for instrumental mixes.

edit king leo zero returns with something very special to kick off a new run of no frills dancefloor bombs that have been tried and tested over the summer on a packed worldwide dj schedule from stockholm to tokyo and beyond. first up is an intensive slice and dice exercise on probably the best track from definitely the best band in the world: the clash. leo takes their most disco friendly outing >the maginificent dance< famously spun by mr levan at the garage - and with the more dubby rare levan version he homes in on looped 1 bar sections, skating along to create a new arrangement - added to the brew are bootleg recordings form the clashes infamous live show at nycs bonds ballroom, and even some baseline demos digitally siphoned from people practicing guitar along to the clash on youtube!….. we are left with is an epic labour of love edit that has already found its way into the a-listers record boxes - from derrick carter to laurent garnier who are all spinning this solid as a rock dub disco bomb. on the flip we have a classy house re-work of al hudson & partners >music< which sticks a chi-town kick and snare up its rear end along with some serious sub bass, and in the middle things get all wobbly with some trademark leo zero space echo rides and before we are quickly warped back-in and onto the floor… big with a load of top jocks too including severino of horse meat disco fame.

italian producer simone fedi, hailing from tuscany, takes things to a whole new level on this third release on eskimo recordings. >bitter devotion< is a vocal pop gem with a balearic tinge, but its bittersweet vocals and the addictive melody will haunt you. for this tune fedi, a multi-instrumentalist with a knack for pop music and a soft spot for vintage gear, joined forces with a mysterious singer named lola rent, and this turns out to be a winning team.

next up from the very eclectic rong music is a remix ep from west indian girl.west indian girl is a rock band from los angeles. the bands name comes from a type of lsd that was popular in the early 60s. the initials are also a reference to james and tens previous band, wig scotty coats and wes the mes have fifty years of djing and remixing experience between them but their first release togetheruas wes coatsuis just coming out this month as the first california release on the newly merged dfa and rong music. patterns form hail from texas formed by sammy ragland & chris ornelas in 2000 making a cross between shoegaze trip hop & electronic moving to la in 2004 and forming a full band and have been playing live across the us ever since.

following up on the release of society, here comes the embassy, on the asphalt dushess label. pure pop songs which are not without reminding of the best manchester years. also including a remix from francois eudes chanfrault.

with the latest album from dance producer hans-peter lindstrøm, norways latest entry in the space race has been launched out of the wooded outskirts of oslo. six cups of rebel, lindstrøms fourth solo album, is a super-sized cosmic disco rocket that burns up a galaxy of eclectic influences in its wake, from bach to deep purple, from prog rock and arpeggiator disco to acid house, while sounding sleek and utterly contemporary. he may worship at the temple of godlike european djs from the 80s like daniele baldelli and beppe loda, but the relentless, occasionally monumental scale of six cups of rebel has the power to move mountains all by itself.

after a handful of smashing remixes and compilation features on nang records, lusty zanzibar returns to the fold with a cracking solo effort named the >the feeling ep.< title track is a spaced out exercise in immersive square-wave programming, reminiscent of the pre-internet computer gaming age when colours were 8-bit and vivid, and soundtracks were hyper-colour opuses. the complex synth work is underpinned by a driving beat with ethereal vocal wisps and crystalline pads. nice. the first of three remixes for >the feeling< comes from ilya santana, with his >celestial version<, and celestial it is indeed! a picturesque scene is set, the rhythm is wound back and a super laid back vibe allows the vocal line >remember how you are feeling< to sit more purposefully in the mix, alongside the tip-toeing bass line and often euphoric chords. up next comes the max essa dub version, introducing some arp-synth subtleties, replacing the main vocal hook to great effect. to finish we have a mix from fear of theydon who brings a touch of arpeggiated femininity and tasteful woodblock percussion to the table. its a fulfilling yet sultry up-beat journey.

following up their brazen debut on nang in 2010 ibiza lord, pete gooding and chill capitano chris coco return with their follow up. this time they have enlisted the silky vocals of peter coyle, best known as the voice of liverpool based lotus eaters who made the amazing >first picture of you< in the early 80s. >believe< turns down the bpm quotient a few notches and sets the destinations for balearic.

voyeurrhythm crew returns with an splendin follow up on the ep1 (which was sold out on the day it came out!). and this one might even be better! hollywood nights has a dirty chi-town influenced house track with a phat bassline... think early days of frankie knuckles! megadon betamax did a cheeky cover version of one of our all-time favorite electronic disco tracks... changed into >he cant love you< (he completly reprogrammed and recorded the track!). and ben sun, suplier of the fantastic >when you looked< track on ep1 has another extremely solid track again called victoria park.. goose bumps all over from the first bar! another winner.

after the resounding success of lunarjam001 the leeds based lunar cadets ticker & cristoidz return with some seriously out there, and rare as roast beef edits for your late night perusal. their first release flirted and got frisky with hott city, loveride and david byrne and put them through the lunar jam cosmic mixer. they have forsaken such formalities with this release though, and have unearthed four tracks from even deeper and darker corners of their collections, and given them a serious going over. already garnering much support from such balearic luminaries as prins thomas & moonboots as always, limited to initial press only polysleeve and photocopied inlay!

this 5 tracker features upcoming artists from brooklyns diverse & vibrant psychedelic synth scene. nice touchs get off/on starts things off & is followed by lbjs traffic. out 2 pay homage to the 11 hr rivette epic, pam finchs dopesmuggler gets a lectric mix, & sand doons keeps it deep.

while yacht refers to >dystopia (the earth is on fire)< as a post-apocalyptic fight song and a cautionary tale, the tracks chant-along melodies and unsparing synths nudge listeners far closer to dance than despair. from the sound of things, that reaction will likely also be elicited by two new remixes of the portland duos song, from their 2011 long player shangri-la. legendary production duo justin strauss and bryan mette, aka whatever/whatever, completely rework the sound of >dystopia< on their version, reorienting it with heavy doses of funk. while the original rides atop buzzing synths, the whatever/whatever remix adds a thick bassline and shimmery keyboards that leap out like solar flares. on the flipside, uk-based emperor machine starts their dystopia remix with a dubby feel – every vocal echoing endlessly – and then u-turns into wholly a updated, yet classic, disco sound. the rhythms are sultry, slinking behind a deep, repeated, synthline, its a recipe for an unexpectedly smooth, subtly hypnotic, and utterly danceworthy song.

brandon johnson, the artist known as tridact, has been putting together his mix of analog electronics and beats for some time. growing up in and around santa barbara, california, he has recently traded the beaches and foothills of southern california to move to the forests and mountains of southern oregon. after participating in various bands and other musical projects in santa barbara, he bought a simple setup consisting of a midi sequencer, a sampler and a couple of vintage synthesizers and began creating his own electronic music. over time he built up a small studio and added some live instrumentation into the mix. in the late 2000s, he began posting some of his tracks online, eventually leading to his first release, >light minute<, on the synchronicity suite compilation on moodgadget records, alongside artists such as wisp and mux mool. the track was later re-released on ghostly internationals nocturnal suite compilation. on tridact’s debut album on prins thomas internasjonal label, he creates an eclectic blend of densely layered, melodic, song-oriented instrumental tracks which combine analog synthesizers, guitars and programmed beats. the album draws from influences ranging from 60s pop to disco, house, techno and breakbeat to make a sound that reflects a distinctly pacific coast experience. from the new tridact album (intcd0002) we have cherry picked these tracks for a exclusive vinyl edition spread over 1 12 inch and a 7 inch.

it has been a head-spinning couple of months for miracle. the new ldn/nyc synth-pop duo comprising singer daniel osullivan and synth overlord steve moore have released their debut ep on house anxiety (the big pink, zoo kid etc) to fevered critical acclaim, notably wowing the likes of wire, nme, dazed and confused and pitchfork in rare, uniting form. they then made their live debut with a series of shows with likeminds darkstar and blondes, before premiering their stunning debut video for the eps leviathan lead track >the visitor<, in the us via pitchfork and then in europe via dazed. now to tie a ribbon around this meteoric first chapter, they are releasing a limited edition double 12-inch vinyl ep, collecting together on physical release for the first time the comprehensive, dazzling selection of mixes and reworkings that >the visitor< was treated to.

rising star chamboche (sam williams) turns out his 3rd release on under the shade. heading up the a side is a bumping old school remix from ny dream team runaway, whilst the original is a slow building rumbler, full of tension in all the right places. on the flip >the show must go on< gets a locked groove with the a huge baseline whilst remixer de jour moscow (matt waites) goes epic!

here comes the first release for the new decade! king dk allows us a glimpse into his darkmind with his new single. the outcome is an outstanding genre mix of melancholic dark popish elements which are surrounded by a fat baseline. the extraordinary vocals by claudia fink polishes up a unique track perfectly made for those cold winter months.

next up from untracked is a superb ep by portuguese producer rui maia. includes a re fix from very hot property danny berman aka hot coins who has dubbed it, beefed it and flipped it with dark detroit atmospherics into a straight dancefloor detonation... comes in a beautiful embossed sleeve!

the title track is a dreamy balearic disco number with perky female vocals (comes with a beatless alternate version). all out of order is a quirky throwback to eclectic 80s pop ballads, think laurie anderson on autotune (comes with a version sung in spanish)

after the superb best of chaz jankel on their sister label tirk last year, nang are grinning ear to ear for the second release with some top flight remixes featuring big names all the way. first up is rekids regular toby tobias and the slick discoid grooving interpretation of call me. fresh from the success of their final electric chair comp the unabombers weigh in with their bouncy walking bass take on one of 2007s top disco tunes get myself together. to round things off a 3rd big name diesel from xpress 2 chills things out and delivers his stripped down after hours version. nang is out of the gates and running folks.

three folky tracks burned beyond recognition by three absolute masters of the beats: damian schwartz, mweslee and charles trees. brought to you on a very limited transparent vinyl. and theres some auto-tune on there, too!

you might not be aware of this artist or lp… but thats all about to change. this is the holy grail of cosmic disco… that disco kids dont even know yet. released in 1978 on little known inter global records, this lp is one of the most in demand, expensive & undiscovered albums of this genre. just check discogs! not much is known about the group, where their from or what they went on to do, but that doesnt stop every track on this album being a bonafide killer. arguably the albums highlight is jamaica electric, but unlike most cosmic disco lps where there is just one main track, every outing on this lp is unique and of the highest quality. cosmic, mind bending disco at its finest… sounding so fresh it couldve been made by prins thomas or lindstrom this year.

from the murky manchester backstreets, the el diablos social club main man neil diablo (aka the midnight chopper alongside cohort mr masters) stalks his balearic-rock prey with a sharp eye for a groove and a keen sense of razor sharp riffing! on this outing they turn their attention away from the over-subscribed disco edit scene, instead focusing on something a bit more bearded, a bit more rock.

for the first release in 2010 electric minds present ly sander & michael j collins. with ly residing in geneva and michael in denver, it was soundcloud that brought the pair together through an appreciation of each others productions. independently both producers have a solid background in music. electric minds welcome both producers and look forward to the impact their ep will have on the ever changing house music community. all three tracks are mood inspiring productions, subtle and simple in places they will appeal to those that like their music deep and with a touch of soul.
