Die erstmals 1973 erschienene Zusammenstellung "Early Recordings: Detroit And Beyond" gilt unter Fans der Blues-Ikone als die beste Kompilation John Lee Hookers. Entsprechend stolz und glücklich schätzt man sich bei Third Man Records in Nashville, diesen Klassiker nach 45 Jahren erneut auflegen zu dürfen. Standesgemäß auf Vinyl, und natürlich neu gemastert. Aufgrund der Fülle an Titeln wurde die insgesamt 56 Songs auf je zwei Doppel-LPs verteilt. Das Remastering besorgten die renommierten Fachkräfte von United Sound Systems in Detroit. Verwendung fanden dabei die originalen Masterbänder. Für Blues-Fans und Musikliebhaber sind diese Doppel-LPs ein Pflichtkauf. Auf "Volume 1" findet sich unter anderem der Killersong "Johnny Lee's Original Boogie (Boogie Chillen)".
