Swiss pair Domo are back on their own Framework label with another fine EP featuring two fresh and inventive cuts. This well established Swiss duo have already served up the first two EPs on this label proving they have a sound that mixes up classic Detroit and Berlin sounds with their own vivid imaginations and a love of tech house. They also work as live performers who focus on spontaneity, and that certainly shows here.
Opening the EP is the loose and expressive ‘La Kuika’, which is a flurry of hi hats, bird calls and tribal drums that take you right to the heart of a jungle. It has tumbling bass and rawness in the textures that really make it jump out of the speakers. Once this one gets dropped on the floor, it’s sure to get big reactions. Just as stuffed with feeling is ‘Hidden Slice’, which is more heavyweight and poised, with huge kick drums dropping from a great height and knotted little melodic riffs play out over and over to bring a hypnotic feel whilst rolling hi hats add another layer of depth. This one is an early evening but party pumping house music that has real feeling.
Once again here the duo show they have an authentic house style that is lived in and full of charm and character.
