Luke Miskelly & Ittetsu
IN CONTRAST EP
Fuse London / Fuse006
12 Inch
The Fuse London imprint welcome two new members to its crew with the ‘In Contrast’ EP by Luke Miskelly & Ittetsu, backed with a collaborative remix from founder Enzo Siragusa and Chris Lattner. The Fuse London imprint, again display their ability to stand out from the crowd with the unique and tasteful music found on >In Contast<.
Luke Miskelly is a regular DJ at the infamous Fuse events and combined with Ittetsu, most notably known for his work on Welt, Resopal Schallware and Metroline, delivers deep tripped out house grooves. This release follows cuts from residents Enzo Siragusa, Rich NxT, Seb Zito and Alex Arnout, who have all delivered the signature ‘Fusic’ dub-house sound through their productions.
‘Gutterlove’, opens the release with a weighty kick drum, shuffling modulated hats and off-kilter bass tones. Dub delays are sporadically applied to the vocal chops and metallic percussion hits, adding a vacillating movement to the arrangement, while a gritty electronic bass hook adds a further heftiness to the simple, powerful groove.
‘Sunny Side Up’, follows, employing a fusion of subtle soft pads and strings that build a tenacious atmosphere.
The drum programming has a stripped-back sensibility and each element is forcibly placed to ebb & flow around one another building a concentrated motion.
To close the release Enzo Siragusa & Chris Lattner rework ‘Sunny Side Up’, opting for deft touches and a less-is-more approach. The duo implement a rolling sub-bass line as the driving force while Lattner’s signature skipping drums adds a infectious swing and Enzo’s love for crystal clear sonics is displayed through warm pads and coolly flowing automation to create a smooth heavy hitter from this reputable duo.[info from dbh]
