producer mad zach finds himself comfortably nestled in the hip-hop, dub and glitch-tipped zone of electronic music, and his latest productions have done nothing but further that fact.

mad zach debuts his newest ep, fortress, on march 10th via plasma audio. the five-track compilation serves as a follow up to quantum shock, which was released in 2015 including collaborations from g jones and sayer. fortress features zach’s brooding and rhythmic single, “robovox.” mixmag premiered the tune last month. mad zach will be heading out across the western us and canada this june to bring fortress to life.

plasma audio have been on a roll this year. they have racked up releases from the likes of icicle, safire, rido, proxima, cursa, kolectiv and survey and now they have got a heavy remix single from the mighty alix perez. sabres track yoga came out on plasma in 2014 to critical acclaim and now it has got a whole new lease of life, courtesy of mr. perez, with two new versions.
both remixes have manage hold on to plenty of the originals wonkiness. the club mix creeps along with an irregular pace. buzzing synths call out and reply to each other in a conversation, which builds up an abstract sonic landscape that bulges and swells as the track continues. the warped mix brings more space to the tracks reinterpretation resulting in a more dubbed out feel accentuating the tracks sense of pace.

plasma audio bring the heat with their third release and first outing for 2015. with three releases under their belt so far they have succeeded in cutting a solid path with enormous cuts from icicle and sabre among others. for the third release they have enlisted fre4knc.
plasma like to keep things on the grittier side of drum and bass and these two fre4knc cuts do just that. the a side, chain of command is a rumbling roller that swoops and crunches through your ears and on the flip sinjek feels more spacious and lean, but still delivers a hefty punch.

plasma audio mark the first step in their record labels life with a huge remix of safire & amoss track 4th state feat gusto, from the dutch production lord, icicle, of shogun audio fame. with its four furious minutes having been spoken for, the focus shifts to 2012 and chavland, the two less crushing than 4th state but compelling on their own terms. with a distorted, grime soaked vocal growl in tow, 2012 digs into its trippy glitchtronic vibe and future-funk groove with serious headnodding purpose, before chavland rolls out a muscular, high-velocity neurofunk pulse to re-establish the releases drum n bass character.
