incl dl code, dam swindle present ‘high life, their second studio album due on the 28th may on the duos own heist recordings. the heart of the album was recorded over a three week period at their amsterdam studio in march 2017, and the release will coincide with the fifth anniversary of the label. since forming in 2011, the dutch duo have carved a unique place for themselves in the scene. their sound - which merges references from multiple decades into one smooth aesthetic - quickly rose to popularity for its careful blend of soul and rhythm, taking cues from their passion for obscure records, with influences ranging from house and funk to afrobeat and soul. dynamic live shows and dj sets afford them a packed touring schedule across the globe, whilst their label heist recordings is credited with consistently breaking new artists. the album explores the intersection of live and electronic music, with much of the improvised material left largely untouched to maintain its organic sensibilities. dam swindle describe the album as an electronic album with a live approach, combining our love for house, ambient and jazzy harmonics, making it a record interesting for the club, as well as a pleasant album to put on at home.

heist kicks off the new year with the first ep of dam swindle since they put out their album boxed out back in march 14. the punch drunk ep is the result of a series of jam sessions in their studio, experimenting with their ever growing studio setup.

after a killer 2015 for heist that brought with it 12inches from (a.o.) brame & hamo, fouk and new recruit m.ono, and a great frits wentink release to kick off 2016, were happy to bring you this bright and vibrant package courtesy of..ourselves. 2015 has been such an amazing and busy year for us, with loads of work on a new version of our live show with a new dam swindle member on the keys well as countless other shows and records on heist and freerange). pressing on 180 gram vinyl.

the swindlers return and not a minute too soon as far as were concerned! the hardest working duo in house music have had a mental couple of years playing every club and festival known to man, having babies, seemingly buying up the entire stock of vintage studio gear off ebay and thankfully knocking out some banging tunes on top of all that. well all club bangers gratefully received here at freerange so with open arms and ears were happy to be bringing you the figure of speech ep.

finally we close the ep with woman, a track thats probably about as close as the ds boys get to a smooching torch song. lush pads and strings bring a deeper vibe to proceedings but the female spoken word samples keep the energy high and ensure things never stray too far from the floor.

after their sure-fire succession of great releases dam swindle end up on the excellent freerange imprint. and if you like the words deep along with atmospheric then this will most definitely appeal to you. from the opening title track with its lush, moody nu-groove styled pads and thunderous hand-claps these three productions simply ooze class and intensity in abundance. next is >gotta know< which rewinds back to classic house sounds and injects a sense of melody into the already swinging rhythms and punchy, detroit bass. which is then followed by >brotherman< and yet more in-depth moods, this time accompanied by jazzy, scat styled vocals for added diversity. finally we have wolf music main man krl stepping up to remix brotherman and a rather sterling job he does to. making great use of the vocal krl brings us a slowed down version with his trademark shuffling drums and a dynamic arrangement. piano stabs and a cheeky boogie synth sample all help bring his own sound to the track and round off the package perfectly.

the only thing that keeps dam swindle from actually being from detroit is that they are born and raised in amsterdam, a little over 6000 kilometers away. so even though they’ve got their 4 feet firmly positioned on dutch soil, their heads and hearts are rooted deep into the soul of the motor city.

e present the first of three 12inches to celebrate our 10th anniversary. for the a side dam swindle radically rework sometimes into not another sometimes, a killer raw analogue jam that demonstrates a real development of the ds sound. for the b1 we re buzzing to finally release an original track from matthew styles, who s been on remix duties 3 times over the years, with the infectious house of jungle fever. last and by no means least the carter bros give us tempting disco fate, a rolling disco loop with the mother of all bassline changes at the end of the track. look out for part two dropping in april featuring a jimpster edit of galcher lustwerk, fort romeau remixing the first ever tsuba release from williams and a tsuba debut from roy comanchero.
