2020 repress - the fourth release is a big one for holding hands as they branch out into brand new territory with their first new signing on the label. breaka usually runs in very different circles, producing footwork, juke and dnb from his home in leeds. these are the first tunes of his at a slower tempo to be released but you can certainly hear those in6luences loud and clear in these certified uk 125-130bpm bangers.

breakage continues his excellent run of releases on his own label with the liff up ep. the fourth release showcases the different shades within the current index aesthetic, confidently showing you can recontextualise definitive jungle and drum & bass sound palettes by avoiding throwback cliches and keeping to a consistently high production value. the label has been a runaway success for breakage, a place where he can make and release the sound closest to his heart and the results have shown that this is the perfect place for the storied producer.

jess mills is on everyones lips at the moment as she sets the barrier high with her single >vulture< – which is actually out today. having worked alongside digital soundboy main-man, james breakage, providing the vocals for his track, >fighting fire<. breakage has returned the favour by producing >vultures<. theres a moody photek re-edit on the flip, if you know what rupert parkes is capable of then you wont give this one a miss. limited to 250 vinyl.

having been releasing music since 2001 with over 40 productions and remixes to his name, breakage, aka james boyle, cut his teeth a long time ago and is widely regarded as one of the most talented producers in dubstep and drum n bass today. step outside of those worlds though and youd be forgiven to find many that are aware of this gifted beat conductor, but not for long, with the release of his debut album for digital soundboy, >foundation<, scheduled for early 2010, breakage is about to take over.
