nice price deal !!! ferdinando apicella a.k.a. singular anomalies was born in naples. he has his first approach with the music when at the age of 10 his father gave him his first piano keyboard. in 1994 he listened to for the first time to a techno tape from derrick may, he had directly a big passion for techno detroit. so he started playing with his first vinyls, knowing labels as metroplex, underground resistance, transmat, axis, m-plant, and following djproducers like jeff mills, robert hood, kenny larkin, mike banks. for a period of time, he abandoned the techno scene to learn some jazz music, but after some years, obsessed by the techno music, he started studying seriously electronic music production, obtaining the degree of sound engineer and sound designer.

nomadico’s gentefication ep is inspired by the gente-fication movement in east los angeles. a movement striving to uplift and maintain the local street culture without selling out to real estate developers and so-called gentrifiers. the a side tracks “gentefied” and “semillas” are deeper, uplifting tracks with a hi-tech edge. the soundtrack for young barrio coders, digital artists and community organizers. on the flip “graff walk” and “the heights” are grittier techno-funk workouts for bumping loud while rolling down broadway or cesar chavez avenue in l.a. yaxteq will continue to honor high tech urban innovation that goes against all expectations. si se puede!!

the ganas ep is dedicated to professor jaime escalante who passed away on march 30, 2010. the movie >stand and deliver< was based on his life. as a math teacher, he worked hard to inspire latino students in east l.a. to work hard at their math skills and at life with desire or in spanish ganas. when everyone else expected latinos not to do well at advanced math and calculus, he reminded students that the aztecs and mayans were masters of numbers. the tracks on the >ganas ep< are designed to inspire listeners to overcome expectations and remember that todays so-called minorities are the descendents of some of the worlds greatest civilizations.
