fresh after his storming powerline ep on extrapolation records, lancashire based brandon vare delivers 2 more mighty tracks for jelly roll soul. with the a side, moonlighting he brings some relief from the 2017s darkness. with it’s glistening synth lines and warm chords, it delivers a sense of hope in a time of need. dug out from his archives, the track is now over 5 years old but now its time has come! the flip side yattering is its ugly, dark shadow. its conflicted inner life slowly reveals itself from under a razor sharp bassline, burbling to the surface as it breaks out in a full on panic attack

hailing from within the heat of florida, brandon* is a gifted producer whose musical style is an eclectic blend of hip hop, jazz, lounge, and latin flavors. tough beats move alongside swirling strings, soundtrack-ish atmospheres, and nostalgic orchestral arrangements, all seemingly lifted from obscure vinyl thrift store finds in the sunny retirement capitol. it’s a refreshingly perfect mix of elements, resulting in ‘beats music’ that is amorous and enchanting. this is even more apparent on brandon*’s latest long-player on the cold busted imprint, titled dreamscape: part 4*. the producer’s other dreamscape releases explored his distinct sound, and this latest brings brandon*’s m.o. to further maturity and acclaim. from the bombastic bossa of “cabana chat” to “oasis”’s gentle acoustic guitars to the tropical jazz vibe of “rio dio”, dreamscape: part 4* will delight and captivate, and nicely compliments an exotic cocktail.

not content with a rich and flawless back catalogue of releases under a plethora of monikers such as dabrye, jtc and charles manier spanning multiple genres on a wide variety of labels such as ghostly international, rephlex amongst many others, and a career spanning 15 years, 2014 seemed like the right time to make plans to create an imprint with the aim of releasing the the rich flood of music that flows forth from tadd mullinix’s ann arbor studio. those plans have come to fruition and the first release this year is a 3 track 12” from jtc.

founding sound traveller dj patrique collaborates with clarence on one track to be released on the vinyl edition only. clarence brandon is obviously inspired by the detroit heritage as all tracks bear the soul of this influential city. by using an uplifting track build-up, forward moving rhythms and inspiring melodies, all tracks are well suited for the lovers of fine techno and house. gracefully placing subtle sounds but never loosing sight of the dance floor, clarence diligently produced the first ever physical sound travels release.
