optimo trax 30 celebrates a double 30 year anniversary: the original release date of “rejekto” and 30 years since twitch started dj’ing. in 1987, twitch, who wasn’t known as twitch yet, picked up a copy of “rejekto” at glasgow’s then numero uno import shop, 23rd precinct. he was smitten.

arriving as the first release of the new sublabel series figure jams, this split ep by fabrizio lapiana and amotik serves not only as a crafty cut in its own right but also showcases a particular type of package, which figure will be facilitating from now on. the a-side is taken up by a pair of lapiana’s irresistably dense grooves that unmistakebly tread in the footsteps of his homeland’s highly emotional techno, unafraid of big melodies but also injecting just the right amount of twisted acid to set the floor ablaze. this sense of grandeur and space is also reflected in the work of fast-rising producer amotik. painting with his very own colours as an equally epic scenery, its bleak and post-apocalyptic landscape dominated by broken industrial beats and hypnotically swirling synths.

it s been 6 years since their first ep supernova first appeared on dj 3000s motech imprint. now the balkan duo of subotika prepare to release their debut album panonija this november. the two young friends from the balkan area of subotica city are heavily influenced by the sights and sounds of their own environment as well as being keen supporters of detroit style techno and labels like underground resistance. through their connection to detroit s motech label they have become part of a larger global family of as their tracks have been played by the likes of laurent garnier, ken ishii, dave clarke, santiago salazar, dj 3000, jeff mills, billy nasty, funk d void, fabrice lig, alter ego and more.
