first album of the talented eva geist, a journey into the deepness of her enchanting music, a world full of fantasy. this is probably one of the most singular, surprising and brilliant electronic project in the genre at the moment. and amazing artwork by the genius maria torres

mehmet aslan and miajica represent some of the finest operators in basel, and their fleeting wax label is on hand to represent what s good in the swiss scene and beyond. on this latest release they turn to eva geist, who has previously been spotted on macadam mambo and elestial sound with her beautiful mix of synths and vocals, striking a chord between noirish synth pop and heads down club music. -blumareciano- is a wonderfully seductive, slightly spooky stew of a track which san proper then injects with his usual freaky energy to make for a more uptempo party version. then geists begum stretches over the b-side in a bubbling blend of delayed voices, tribal percussion and general outernational surrealism.

eva geist s music is inspired by dreams, lost paradises, and new horizons of human belonging.” eva geist is an italian electronic musician and composer based in berlin. her early musical experiences in electronic music were largely self-directed, beginning with use of synthesizers and sequencers to different audiovisual computer and mobile technologies.geist s music builds up a cinematic musical journey around rarefied melodies, arpeggiators, soft beats and space disco. under the eva moniker hides the underground polyedric artist andrea noce, who previously released a mini-lp last year with david kristian on macadam mambo. this ep includes a wonderfull remix of «tanz im morgenmantel » by salon des amateurs head’s tolouse low trax, transposing it in a very subaquatic version, and a sublime artwork by talented artist maria torres

early june 2019 frankfurt am main based label mmodemm unleashes drums the first of a series of vinyl compilations in the spirit of signature sounds, stating a tribute to sound-libraries a deconstruction of your favorite preset sound-groups. drums will be followed by sound-themed releases flutes, voices and slapbass within the next months.&#8232,, drums features a proggy composition by eva geist (macadam mambo), a raving clave inferno with odd, pitched chants by cienfuegos (l.i.e.s.), a dance-floor drum-solo straight from ireland by lumigraph (opal tapes, mr. saturday night) and last but not least a drunk masterclass drum-lesson by peder mannerfelt (avian, berlin atonal rec), taking house apart with his dumb drums

the metallic compilation danzas electricas is back for a second volume ! curated by sacha mambo, it presents only artists from nowadays and takes distance from the edits to push original and weird electronic music of close artists friends from dresden, copenhagen, berlin, prague, lyon and hamburg. some of them are already relatives of macadam mambo : konsistent, wosto, heninspace eva geist or sacha himself and it introduces new acts : ekstern (nixxon & spacelex), service, houschyard or sauerstofff to present a good mixture of kraut, punk, industrial tracks, which never fall into dark.

that summer i developed somewhat of an obsession with tonto’s expanding head band after having seen them perform at the big chill festival that year. the music blew my mind. later upon my return to civilisation and the ensuing research which then began in earnest i became as much blown away by the enormous t.o.n.t.o. (the original new timbral orchestra) modular synthesizer that had created the music as i was by the music itself. built in the early 70s, it s still the largest synthesizer around today. with the live show still resonating in my head i tracked down everything tonto had ever recorded. one of these tracks was an obscure outtake from the time t.o.n.t.o.’s creators, malcolm cecil and robert margouleff, were producing and engineering for stevie wonder in the ‘70s(https://youtu.be/wuaszff7yq0). the track, bittersweet, only ever appeared on a highly limited self-released cd put together to coincide with their appearance at the big chill. consequently i featured it on a few mixes i did over the years and invariably i’d be asked “what’s that track?” by those with an ear for something unique. and invariably these same people, many of them djs, would turn away disgruntled when i informed them it was cd only. although i didn t know it at the time, the seed was definitely sown for this vinyl compilation that you now hold in your hands.
