7 Inch 07.05.19
two huge bobby womack classics, the heart-on-a-sleeve how could you break my heart and the sweet soul love song, give it up get a much deserved, official remastered reissue
please find enclosed the latest body fusion release from label head bobby analog. for this record we have returned to our favoured format of three tracks spread across two sides. the a side features a foray into hip house with some sass and features lots of dx100 bass and m1 keys and strings. on the b side europa kicks things off with lots of juno arpeggiators, chords and 808’s in a homage to our italo friends. we finished things off on the flip with a twisted distorted warped love song. proceeds from the sale of this record go to the struggle to re-unify europe.
bobby cazanova powers full throttle into outerspace, charging from galaxy to galaxy with a heart full of emotions in tow. feel all the feels with his cosmic supply of house and electro tinged sentiments!
it seems odd that we have to introduce the london mainstay and lion & lamb resident mr. bobby pleasure to the fold, but it is indeed his first solo outing and what an incredible record it is! three originals that blur the boundaries between house and techno whilst maintaining a heavy dance-floor orientation, backed up with none other than a (very) special craig richards remix.
hot on the heels of the well received dirty channels vs danny russell watchin out/ frazelle today is the day (linkwood edit), we bring you more twelve inch heat. this time in the shape of an unreleased nugget from funk and soul legend, bobby boyd, the founding member and lead singer of bobby boyds congress - who metamorphosed into the lafayette afro rock band, after bobbys departure in 1971. on the a-side, producer and engineer extraordinaire bob blank - whos worked closely with the likes of arthur russell, taana gardner, sun ra, larry levan and kid creole - turns out a mix that hits the sweet spot between boogie and proto-house with a hint of latin freestyle. whilst the flip sees darting synths and swirling pads layered over a tight machine groove, as bobby reminds us of the simply joy that dancing can bring.
second up on our bobby boyd unreleased recording we have some dope mid 80s material from bobby, “i like what you do to me” is boogie / proto house joint that is totally my bag, feels like it should be in a 80s movie weightlifting montage (in a good way) it just works on the dance floor so well.
on the flip things get even stronger with the proto-house banger “girl like you” a sick soulful number with with a biggest swinging kick drum i have ever heard, both proper club material.
if your not a rare soul or disco collector bobby’s name might not be a name your familiar with but as one of the founder members of lafayette afro rock band you will have experienced his music and influence which is far reaching.

this month we have what is the start of a string of previously unreleased bangers from the soul, funk and disco legend bobby boyd, we have been working on this for a long time and really proud to be working alongside bobby representing him. first up we have love goddess, a floaty driving disco soul number thats bound to get some spins by the northern boys as well as deep disco heads, i know its been doing this business when i play it, on the flip and classic horn driven funky soul in bobbys classic style and solid songwriting, essential. if your not a rare soul or disco collector bobby s name might not be a name your familiar with but as one of the founder members of lafayette afro rock band you will have experienced his music and influence which is far reaching.
the whiskey pickle crew turn their attention to a new partnership from steve cobby and laurie welton, the former being known for decades of djing, label management and producing alongside the likes of stephen mallinder for throne of blood. here the emphasis, as expected with whiskey pickle, is on disco with a slight leaning to the left. -absolute- is a bubbling jam laden with illustrious threads of melody, cosmic in nature but still rooted thanks to a rock solid rhythm section. -limoncello- is a more introspective affair that works with minor chords and a more intricate set of drums, but don t be fooled the groove is very much still intact. new york duo whatever/whatever bring a tougher dynamic to -absolute,- dialing in some beefy beats and amping up the synth touches for a surefire house heater. played by
more disco meets deep house from that guy bobby analog on his third release from his body fusion imprint - this one has been getting some spicy reactions in the club. strong nyc influences from henry street for the a-side with a little hat tip to the darker, deeper feels of chez, ron and kerri on the flip. we hope there’s something for all hours of the early morning on here.

needs is a new label that bills itself as a not-for profit concern, which may apply to many record labels, but this one in particular calls upon a strong cast of deep house producers to impart the kind of smallville-friendly sounds that discerning heads should snap up in a heartbeat. hubie davisons i know is a melancholic affair with heart nagging strings, while johannes albert injects a little spice into proceedings with a choice breakbeat and some excellent bird song on vigilia. dj swaggers 21st century slow jam is a peppy little shuffler with warm acidic bass and a kick ass swing in the beat, and then bobby pleasure finishes the record off with the wistful but tech-edged cloudspotting.
