limited repress! following up the debut release from altitude, vade mecum returns with an ep on the limited 10inch series with another legend in the dub techno world - merv. they became notorious after some releases in the second half of the 90s, which included two tracks that are now considered dub techno classics: >dust< and >melted vein<. the copenhagen based duo are back in the studio for a couple of years, after almost 2 decades of silence. since then, they already relased some quality new material on top labels from the scene, and we are absolutely delighted and excited to have them onboard.

after releasing their yantar lp digitally last year, hell yeah now serve up a much anticipated vinyl version of richard somerville and craig wilson s perfectly horizontal sounds. it features two of the superb originals with remixes from the beat broker and los gatos escobar. somerville & wilson have appeared on ism records, dwdk (danny was a drag king), paper records and music for dreams and count the likes of tensnake and gerd janson as fans of their laidback and charming grooves, and this ep is a real slab of heat that will surely sizzle souls across the world this summer.

2017 saw cesar merveille & ryan crosson deliver their second long player in the shape of cerulean, drawing on their modern classical, jazz, ambient and abstract influences to create yet another unique listen featuring collaborations with a classical pianist, trumpet, guitar and double bass players. here we see those original parts eschewed into something entirely fresh from friends and close associates of the duo. leading on the release is cadenza boss lucianos sous le sol interpretation of arp, which twists and turns through the hypnotic chimes and emotive piano chords of the original whilst stirring in luciens signature modulating and intricately evolving rhythmic style. following is a collaborative rework from new yorks phil moffa and seth troxler which employs ethereal synth drones and stuttering vocal cuts alongside a bumpy percussive drive and pulsating subs. perlons bruno pronsato steps up next to remix even tides, delivering his typically raw and emotive style via glitched out, mind-bending percussion, elongated bass drones and cleverly reshaped cuts of the originals cinematic elements. l.as clovis then closes the package with his remix of nordic bummers, employing shuffled hats, lumpy subs and crunchy claps at its core whilst horn swells and aiy atmospherics ebb and flow throughout.

tone series (ts) is glad to introduce to you to its second release tsrs02. in 2016, we launched tone series. so far, we ve have released five eps (consisting of two tracks each) all composed by french musician david k. midway between the first release ts10 and the last one ts01 (ts06 came out at the beginning of september 2017), we thought it would be interesting to ask artists we like to reinterpret one of david k s creations. as a result, we re delighted to present you tsrs02, 2nd ep of the tone series remix series, 2nd ep of the tone series remix series, consisting of: a. 24 bars per day (ts08) remixed by english music producer, live performer and mosaic label owner steve o sullivan,
b. friends (ts06) remixed by french music composer, dj and c.s.r. label owner cesar merveille.

amsterdam label taped artifact has lined up an ep from merv aka brian oldenborg and jan christiansen. after the re-melted reissue on styrax in 2015, this is the pairs third new ep in three years since coming back after first making music back in the mid nineties. their warm dub and techno style is still very much fresh and arresting. blueprint opens the ep with eight enthralling minutes of percolating drums and shuffling hi hats. frosty yet warm, it’s a cavernous affair with a hypnotic riffs sucking you in over and over. shine is more upright techno, but the rock solid kicks are still draped with rippling, static coated chords that ripple out in all directions. rotundum closes things out with synth waves gently breaking over hunched drums that build the pressure. it’s tense and engaging while remaining thoroughly atmospheric.

merveille & crosson return to visionquest this october with their second long player, entitled cerulean and featuring nine original compositions from the duo. 2012 saw the release of cesar merveille & ryan crossons critically acclaimed inaugural long player drm, seeing the pair veer their output into abstract realms and embrace a more eclectic left on centre production style. here five years later the pair return with their second album cerulean, again tipping the focus over to a modern classical, jazz, ambient and abstract aesthetic, featuring collaborations with juliard trained classical pianist julien quinten, no regular play’s greg paulus on trumpet, wareika’s henrik raabe on guitar, yonathan levi on double bass, moritz baumgartner adding additional drum work and berlins signum saxophone quartet. across the ‘cerulean’ project merveille, crosson and all involved offer up an amalgamation of sounds and styles from the freeform jazz odyssey styles of even tides and nordic bummers to the ethereal ambience of intro (almost raw) and mcyh whilst subtly nodding towards their minimal roots with acid pal and qaudra. the pair also radiantly display their love for the new age modular synth style with arp and life in the 80s with intricately programmed, dynamic melodies throughout, all in all resulting in a truly unique and forward thinking project from an array of talents.

following the meeting between masomenos, vadim svoboda and m hamed el menjira, abdessamad boussahfa and sanhaji, cosmo records is once more exploring the crossover between western electronic music producers and traditional african instrumentalists. this time around the casablanca-based label is welcoming a new artist to the fold. cesar merveille has been active in the european house and techno scene for many years, releasing on labels such as cadenza and visionquest while always pursuing his own unique creative agenda inside and outside the conjines of club music. cesar s recent adventures have found him launching roche madame, a label for his most personal and expressive work. in the spirit of this exciting new phase in his career, this release for cosmo jinds him working with the captivating tones of senegalese vocalist malik diop across a range of tracks that capture the crosscultural spirit of cosmo. -kosmos- is a thoroughly delicate production, using intricate threads of percussion that fall in intriguing, fractured patterns behind the layers of malik s voice. the melodic content follows this hypnotic format, drifting in and out of earshot in a playful key that speaks to west african traditions even as it transmits through contemporary synthesis.

long time friends cesar merveille and ryan crosson return to visionquest to reignite their ‘merveille & crosson’ project in late may with three fresh, intricately programmed cuts. visionquest boss ryan crosson and parisian cesar merveille need no introductions, with the duo’s back catalogues featuring material on the likes of revered imprints cadenza, desolat, little helpers and mdrnty. 2011 welcomed the introduction of their ‘merveille & crosson’ project, with their debut album ‘drm’ on visionquest gaining plaudits from industry heavyweights including ricardo villalobos, and after a five years absence here we see the duo return once again to deliver ‘dream state’, a three track ep that oozes quality from the off. the a side is home to title cut ‘dream state’, a production that tumbles and twists smoothly around meandering synths, crisp percussion shots and a bumping low ends, typical of the duos free flowing and evolving production styles. on the flip, ‘guns’ sets to work through pitched down vocal loops, sweeping sonics and rich textures all reinforced by a driving bassline that carries plenty of groove, before ‘time contraints’ slowly unveils itself with a series of off-kilter gliches and pops, delicate pads and sophisticated sound arrangement, concluding yet another fluent and immersive offering from merveille & crosson, and an excellent addition to the visionquest catalogue.

fina has been soaking up the sunshine over the past few weeks procrastinating over the best time to release its next summer cut. with global warming rubbing everyone up the right way, we feel now is as good a time as any to drop fina 004. originally from south africa, esa mervin granger may now be more glasgow concrete towers than table top mountain but his grooves are pure house pedigree. from his releases under his mervin granger moniker to exclusive remixes for ooft! the cape town cat was a natural choice for a very >summer< shuffling three track jaunt.title track veloore is immediately recognisable from its soft analogue piano chords, amalgamated with a dreamy filtered vocal and a bass line which nods to the acidic side of deep house. on the remix is erefaan pearce, a fellow south african who pins soul to every production he lays his hands on. reworking vocals and bass lines into an infectious frenzy that is almost impossible to resist, erefaan draws that sunshine feeling from every angle. think las salinas and you are nearly there. completing the ep on the flipside is galaxy, a deep vocal number paying homage to all the lazy dogs. cosmic deep house aimed purely at the terrace. fina records 004: we present… esa

cesar merveille first joined the cadenza team in 2009 with the outstanding ep. descarga, produced alongside fellow artist pablo cahn and garnering high critique from industry and public alike. a well known and much loved figure within candenzas vagabundos ensemble and equally the international club circuit, it is with great pleasure that cadenza welcome cesar for his debut solo release on the label. maayancholy is a beautiful and heart wrenching record, showcasing the delicate and fiercely musical palette of the french producer. introducing with shimmering open cymbals. light and airy they rustle simultaneously and offer diversity via their multiple manipulation. unsettled and sporadic, they splash throughout the remainder of the piece in an ethereal manner, casting light over delicate steinway piano keys and stabbing muted chord sequences. argentinean artist guti composed the aforementioned piano, his jazz and pianist training clearly used to full degree on maayancholy with simplistic singular key arrangements and piercing chord sequences. as the ascending chords rise, they dance magically alongside the pitter patter of percussive drums in a stripped back and raw demeanour. maayancholy effortlessly lays bare the emotive side of merveille through this ambient and surprising track. luciano picks up the remix duty for with a 16 minute interpretation. as condensed cymbals and piano chords are electronically warped, urgency prevails and groove sets in, securing lucianos twisted version as the perfect companion for the simplistic original. pace quickened and intensity sharpened, luciano demonstrates the clear dance floor attributes within . maayancholy in an electronic reinterpretation fit for the floor

helge tømmerva&#778,,,g aka mind over midi is a long time contributing artist from norway. his work ranges back to the 80s when he started as a member of synthpop group toc. in the 90s he released a series of techno and experimental records and albums under his solo guise mind over midi. with the years he slowly moved away from his techno productions and experimented with ambient soundscapes and dub influenced electronic music. >components<, his first album for diametric., is a wonderful trip from start to finish and a lesson in ambient music. the concept behind this album is helges love for 70s electronic sequencer music and krautrock such as tangerine dream, amon du&#776,,,u&#776,,,l or klaus schulze combined with the sound of the 21st century. he creates a superb melange of tantalizing sounds and atmosphere that will keep you spellbound forever. for best listening experience we recommend headphones. 150 handnumbered limited cd-r copies only. no digital distribution.

esa & mervin granger returns jan 2011 with the second installment of his rememory music label project. >luxarama< is a stunning two track ep featuring an original track of the same name by esa & mervin granger, along with an edit by ali ooft and subcultures ross telford on the flipside as the midnight marauders.
esas rememory music project began earlier this year as the south african ex-pats main creative output, dedicated to his late father. the critically acclaimed debut vinyl >i stole some thunder< sold out quickly, making >luxarama< an eagerly anticipated release.

this is the first installment of esa williams dissect series on his newly formed rememory music imprint. the aim is to combine independently produced music with unique artwork and the first project is the dissect series, the first release being an ep of his own tracks with remixes from friends, including ooft music (the revenge and ali herron), soulscan and bespoke artwork by jennifer crouch (jenist empire).

just how much mileage can you get out a single loop? both pablo cahn and cesar merveille seem to know the answer. if only these guys had turned their talents towards automotive engineering, we might have vastly more fuel-efficient cars by now, and an end to global warming. but we can take consolation, at least, in the heat they bring to the dancefloor. cahn and merveille worked together on cadenza 39, here they each take a side in a friendly contest to see who can go deeper.
