having recently made his inaugural outing on brainfeeder with aphelion ep, british producer ross from friends aka felix clary weatherall returns with his debut album on flying lotus label. family portrait is characterised by a perpetual desire to experiment and felixs obsessive attention to detail, somehow marrying an intricately layered production style with warm, heavily saturated sonics that elevate, rather than stifle, his melodious funk. with a handful of revered 12inches under his belt via breaker breaker, lobster theremin, distant hawaii, magicwire and a 10inch on molten jets. family portrait showcases his ability to shift and evolve, moving from the world of lo-fi to the world of flylo, he demonstrates a versatility exemplified by the ease in which he can switch between playing shows with little dragon, holding down a peak-time slot in berghains panorama bar and performing live at maida vale for bbc radio 1. the double vinyl release includes a download code.

der gehypte britische produzent ross from friends veröffentlicht ep auf flying lotus’ brainfeeder! der britische produzent ross from friends aka felix clary weatherall ist das neueste signing bei flying lotus’ brainfeeder-familie. der 24-jährige hat schon eine handvoll releases auf dem buckel, die im endeffekt die logische destillation seiner zahllosen einflüsse aus u.a. der cut & paste-kultur des hiphop, aus 80er-eurodance, hi-nrg, italodisco und unwiderstehlich rauen dancefloor-tracks. er debütierte 2015 bei breaker breaker, woraufhin veröffentlichungen bei lobster theremin und auf ihrem schwesterlabel distant hawaii, bei magicwire (dem label von produzent lone) und zuletzt molten jets folgten. 12 inch: limitierte schwarze 12” standard vinyl in weißer hülle mit sticker.

from the knowledge gained on our expeditions, we are able to track down the jets fired during each unique eruption and share them with the people of this majestic orb.
the first squirt led us to the yard in hackney, where ross from friends performed live for one of the first few times in his already sparkling career.
>from the performance came a track called ‘champagne’, a wave of sax washing over you accompanied by plinking guitar and of course those fuzzy hi hats that go right to your head.
this track could previously only be experienced by seeing the trio play live or by watching our documentation of the performance, until now.
we’ve printed 300 copies only of this vintage moment from the summer of 2016.

ross from friends returns to the lobster pot with a hard skatin, snake evadin’, cherry chompin’ ep of luscious house bangers alongside raw stomping, broken beatdown escapades.
after making some serious waves over the past 12 months with the cult hit talk to me you’ll understand and following with an epic three-person live set, this third ep and sophomore release for the lobster family expands on the rff sound whilst stretching the sound pallet back to encompass the rawer end of the spectrum as seen on his debut for breaker breaker.

having been circulating on the net for a fair while now, “talk to me you’ll understand” finally arrives with a fresh mastering, but still thudding along with those scuffed reebok drums and soaked into fuzzy, stomach-squeezing low-pass filter. all soft chords, soothing vocals, deep-sea bass and skittering hats.

coming out of south london via sheffield, breaker breaker is a fledgling project headed up by haider masroor a.k.a ds1.
