having previously impressed with vivid blends of cosmic r&b, skewed space-pop, glistening post-ambient soundscapes and mangled, synth-laden grime, rising star throwing shade (aka producer nabihan iqbal) demonstrates her dancefloor side with a killer 12- on happy skull. -chancer- and -blanx- both retain iqbal s uniquely intergalactic aesthetic,whilst flitting between jacking, chicago-influenced house rhythms and jazzy, off-kilter dancefloor grooves. synths sparkle, while vocal snippets drift in and out of the mix. the 12- is completed by a riotous, predictably heavyweight remix from kowton, whose guttural techno grooves are peppered with cut-up samples of iqbal s distinctive, dreamy vocals.

on loop marks its third year with the volume 3 compilation curated by moxie, due for release this autumn. sampler 2 of 2 provides 4 tracks from the main compilation, featuring exclusive productions from throwing shade, sandboards, addison groove and fotomachine. compiled of music from artists she continues to support on her bi-weekly nts show, moxies selection know-how is apparent throughout. throwing shade kicks off the a side of sampler 3.2, laying down celestial melodics and a dark low-end on ‘floors, before new zealand duo sandboards provide pad- drive top ‘miss brimstone dub. addison grooves jazz-soaked chugger ‘soma opens the b side, leaving fotomachine to close proceedings with hazy groove-filled cut ‘ibidun. with 2016s volume 2 gathering support from names like gilles peterson, benji b and annie mac - this years release is set to meet a similar reception. in addition to moxies label, the on loop party series has just celebrated its 1st birthday with korne?l kovacs and lk at on loops london home the pickle factory. the on loop family has been growing all year, with moxie inviting guests like avalon emerson, damiano von erckert, alexander nut and many many more, to over 20 parties at venues like manchesters soup kitchen, edinburghs sneaky petes and lyons le sucre. with more parties to be announced this year, an ade showcase lined up, and a festival stage curation under her belt - moxies on loop imprint is set to continue on its upward trajectory.
