inspired by the resounding contrast, the one that maintains the balance in between two concepts. it doesn’t matter how distant they are. leiras delivers a new excursion on this new 12”, exploring the wasteland and the hostile terrains, but somehow luminous, sometimes even pleasing. under this apparent antithesis, the first part of “turquoise tundra” starts in a tipping point.

next out on the ownlife imprint, a remix ep of what so far has been one of the most acclaimed releases from the label, the collaboration between leiras and svreca titled “the bridges i burn”. four well-known names to the electronic music scene has been invited to infuse their own characteristic sound onto the original tracks of own009. first out covering the a side is spanish reeko who skilfully plays with the rhythm tones, the main bleep synth sounds and his unique and particular way of texturizing the layers. a2, signed by british volte-face, gives the perfect balance between sounds and silence in a mysterious spaced out interpretation of “tilling ceramics”. flipping the record you will find new york veteran producer shawn o’sullivan under his 400ppm moniker, developing the structure of the track in a smooth way, melting the modular synthesis with the atmospheres found in the original version. last to contribute with his unlimited talent is swedish acronym, ho delivers an intense, tribalistic, spiral-maker remix, wrapping up this four tracker in the best possible way.

a prison of predictions is the first lp from the ownlife label (excepting seld series, focused in pressing back gems from two decades ago) and also by the person behind it. leiras.
on it, the producer showcases a compendium featuring the characteristic sound of the platform, pushing ahead cyclical techno together with tracks that evoke the persistence of remembrance. echoing the preterit sound of sandwell district and renewed sound formulas from almost two decades of uk electronica. ambient brush strokes outline soundscapes surrounded by analogue sounds that share space with more direct and snappy songs. a scape on the frenetic side of electronica with an idm-leaning end closes the equation.
substantiating his versatility as a producer with the label’s previous 10 titles and undoubtedly confirmed on this record, leiras offers a consequent closing for the first stage of ownlife, which finishes on this point in order to look for new sound structures for the next transmissions.
this lp has been created in berlin during the last months using mixed recording techniques with the purpose of conceiving a narrative thread that gives coherence to the release, without doubt an inflection point in leiras’ discography.

since its beginnings, fracture has followed the formula of releasing upcoming and interesting newcomers, people they believe in, to get them remixed by more established artists. this time its none other than uk techno legend james ruskin stepping up to the task, for a track carefully crafted by berlin based artist leiras. leiras comes from madrid, and has in the last few years since his move to germany released a handful of eps, mostly on his own ownlife imprint. abyssal is a trippy and atmospheric cut, the kind of deep techno that can transport you into a second state if dropped at the right time. on remix duty, ruskin makes it weirder and grittier, slowly and skillfully building the tension from atmospheric to potential peak time material.

-hepta- is the greek word for the number seven. significant, full of knowledge and symbolism, these metaphoric fields are associated since the beginning of ownlife. it is also the title of the new release on the platform. this time, as it happens regularl

a separate lineage is the brand new ep on ownlife label. this release retrieves leiras usual footprint sweeping through different intensity levels and soundscapes. genetics supplies the right amount of energy to open the record while no partial truth evokes a rougher sound reminiscent of the 90s. a separate lineage is a showcase of contained pressure, guiding the listener into a hypnotic state. the final track, dry ocean, rounds out the ep as it dives deep into an otherworldly sonic plain.

ownlife refers to the tendency to enjoy being solitary or individualistic, which is considered subversive in the chaotic future, according to the sience fiction novel 1984 written by george orwell. it is also the name of a new project focused to the mental and hypnotic techno sound. ownlife premieres with leiras debut, beginning of visions with three original tracks and two remixes from one of the leading figures of the electronic music scene in berlin, sleeparchive.
