matt karmil is a british musician currently residing in sweden. ++++ is his third album, following 2014 s pnn debut - - - - and idle033, released on bristol label idle hands earlier this year. his output also includes a variety of singles for labels such as new yorks beats in space recordings and stockholm s studio barnhus. on this new album, karmil can be heard exploring the concepts of impossible objects, reflection, symmetry, infinity perspective, truncated and stellated polyhedra, hyperbolic geometry, tessellations and lost love. while making the music that constitutes ++++ he interacted with mathematicians george pólya, roger penrose and harold coxeter as well as the crystallographer friedrich haag, and also conducted his own research into tessellation. the result is ++++, karmil s most clever, strange, emotional and fun work yet, a testament to his breadth and depth as a musician. did we forget to mention that he s an awesome party dj?

matt karmil was born in 1979 near the giant pre-historic glockenspiel / mythical neolithic monument known as stonehenge. his debut ep for studio barnhus, following 2014s masterful remix of talaboman, is an homage to the nacksving studio in gothenburg, another mythical place that matt calls home.

‘family horror x good times’ is an extensive 15 tracks compilation, where the leipzig label reflects on an intense and impassioned decade. kann asked close friends and long time idols to play their part to the full to complete the third edition of the label’s family horror compilation series. the outcome is a clear snapshot of the musical inclinations of the three label founders, sevensol & map.ache (aka manamana) and bender, encapsulating an idiosyncratic, modern house sound that demands an emotional response. the compilation comes rounded off by a booklet of photographs from ria aka lux which just like the music captures some of the beautiful ‘good times’ from this very special period, this time on paper.

london producer bxentric releases his latest ep sakura fall . this is the third release from his own label nanda records, following the well-received patch valley and chrome eps. prior to launching his own label, bxentric released on eskimo recordings and glasgow underground. in november 2015 patch valley was included in maceo plex s essential mix for radio 1 and was supported by the likes of barnt, job jobse and bicep.
the a-side of bxentric s latest release includes sakura fall which is a dark heater followed by a contrasting downtempo track afon . the b-side offers a melodious matt karmil version (pnn, beats in space, studio barnhus) of sakura fall . bxentric s lead track has already received airplay on b.traits friday night bbc radio 1 show and support from joris voorn, baikal, andre hommen and kollektiv turmstrasse.

the trunkfunk label has been pushing out quality electronic music from its gothernburg base for fifteen years now. owned by local promoter nibc it has had an open hearted approach to its releases which have featured house, electronica and bumpy urban beats since 2000.
