from tribal rhythms and haunting vocal lines, to crunchy jacking 808’s and rave-esque synth drops, this next instalment on the label shows once again, he/at knows how to get things done.

2016 has been a very fruitful year for krill music. the habitat series places focus on shedding light on budding new talents and seasoned veterans alike through solitary tracks. the year kicked off with an ep from those that fall into the latter category - those of whom need little introduction, in stanislav tolkachev, i/y, +platfform and stefan vincent. throughout the course of the year, we then saw the likes of matrixxman, ilario alicante and mental resonance contribute to the now infamous concatenation.

kintsugi: a japanese technique for repairing broken pottery with veins of gold long time cohorts he/at (aka chris finke) and tom dicicco join forces for the first time to form “kintsugi soundsystem”, a special label & performance project which kicks off with the split “journey to yomi ep”. four special tracks to launch their new imprint , sinister atmospheric techno but not as you may know it , searching deeper and further. rounding off the ep are the first 2 “veins of gold” in the series – locked grooves cut specifically for dj use. fierce loops for use in your warehouses – warning.. club tested and devastating for the adventurous dj.

opening things up, the sinister title track is a dense, winding affair built around staggered tribal patters and powered along with a brooding reese bassline. he/at’s “set openers” have become something he is known for and this is definitely one of his most dramatic. after that madness, “it’s impossible to describe the smell of a wet dog” strips things right down with subtly chaotic-timed rhythms and synth-work. kind of minimal...but not.
on the flip side, “a drama out of a crisis” is a straight-up new-meets-old techno stomper with early beltram-esq beats and modulated melodies, before the ep closes out with the rawness, “the man who made husbands jealous” is a tough acidic kind of work out with an infectious hook we think you’re going to like.

he/at returns to his own label with four uncompromising workouts. rough beats, razor sharp synth work and booming bass merge to form this ep. taking cues from the harder fringes of chicago house and straight up detroit techno, this ep is as eclectic as it is tough.

he/at (pronounced “heat”) is a new project from an established uk producer. this is the second he/at ep to date, following on from the *a death in the family ep* release earlier this summer. limited to a vinyl-only pressing of 500 (which sold out immediately), it was not repressed, bringing he/at to the attention of the techno community. *a terrible misunderstanding ep* contains 4 tracks of fresh, raw, bass-heavy techno as tempered and toughened as it is controlled, as melodic as it is intricate. this ep continues to build upon the rich history of proper techno from middle england, and also unfolds the next chapter in the rise of he/at…

straight out of a midlands bunker, we bring you he/at, and this 4 track debut hits hard.
no clue yet who has actually produced these tracks, but this is an accomplished ep to say the least, showing serious range and floor-filling sensibilities with an experimental edge and a serious bottom end. 4 tracks of fresh, raw, intense techno, tried and tested by a select few that have it.
