originally released in a limited edition of 500 copies in 1982 monoton’s second album ‘monotonprodukt 07’ is now a collector item and also one of the most important album of all-time. it has been voted one of the 100 best records by highly influential uk magazine the wire. monoton was founded in 1979 by hypermedia wizard konrad becker as an art project that underwent various transformations and collaborations in its exploration of psycho-active sound. a pioneer in experimental electronic music, becker continued to break new ground in electronic media. monotonprodukt 07 has been reissued on vinyl by desire (and is still available as a double picture-discs limited to 500 copies. it’s the first time ever that tracks from the album are remixed and desire is proud to had such great artists/producers as us prositutes, svengalighost with fellow partner and l.i.e.s. boss and hospital productions artist ron morelli. the last remix is the work of great mancunian duo rainer veil (modern love). an incredible remix package that do justice to this classic album ! mastered by matt colton at alchemy.

in nur zwei jahren haben es die israelischen psychodelic-punkrocker monotonix geschafft, die independent musikszene richtig aufzumischen. mit legend?ren, unkonventionellen wilden rnr shows und tollen eps und einem album. diese brandneue 7 inch haben sie zusammen mit produzentenlegende steve albini im electrical audio studio aufgenommen.

a temporary sabbatical from gigs was taken and the band wrote material for where were you when it happened in new orleans midtown district, where their rawboned compositions resembled the katrina-pummeled surroundings. with their girlfriends with them in as close to a stableenvironment as they d been in months, they were able to tap a darker, more personal side in songs like as noise, and hunt you down, with its mournful, organ drenched air belying monotonixs typical good time charlie posturing, while fulfilling the albums need for a climactic, balladic moment. where were you when it happened? finds monotonix visiting a greater diversity of places within their sound while still retaining their minimal appeal. mostly though, where were you when it happened works up a sweat with raw rock and roll, acid guitar licks and riffs, screaming choruses and, in general, the wildness of monotonix in a way that makes for repeated album listening (and pummelling). where most bands refine their production sound as they go forward, monotonix have reverse refined themselves, playing dirtier and more energetic to capture the lightning they are known for.

monotonix are a punk trio from tel aviv. they formed in november 2005, set up on the floor of the club with the audience, and the party began. but the party usually got too wild, the power got cut, the cops were called and monotonix were banned from playing again almost everywhere. before long, they were looking for good places to play outside of israel - and they were delighted to find that there are more rock and roll party places outside of israel than inside! today, monotonix are the hardest working rock band in the world. sure, lots of other bands work up a sweat, but monontonix are definitely the only band who puts in the kind of miles they do, and they rock rings around pretty much the rest of us too. these guys do two different shows in two different towns on the same day whenever they can manage it. but thats only the tip of the hard working iceberg. body language sounds almost like a monotonix show. the only thing you cant hear is the sound of your heart beating in your ears after having been chased around the room by a vocalist with his pants literally on fire, then getting dousedwith beer and dancing your ass off to the guitar riffage, then ending it all by carrying the drummer around on your shoulders while a few other guys hold his kit up so he can keep drumming. you dont end up quite as out of breath when listening body language, but you do get a ton of excitement anyway, courtesy of a killer guitar sound, precision power drumming and lusty lead vocals. they recorded body language with tim green (of the fucking champs) at louder studios in san francisco. it twists and grooves with all the fun and fervor of great rock and roll.
