coming out in late july from the man who brought you e ruscha v s -who are you- to great acclaim earlier this year is secret circuit s 2nd ep for invisible inc, the cryptically titled -out of body interiors-. featuring four exclusive new tracks of the acid drenched, dubbed out, tropical disco variety mr ruscha, as always, delivers a sonic palette you won t find on many other imprints: from the turbo-charged homage to early 90s bleep meets indie rave euphoria of stomping ground, through the chugging, motorik groove of crazy ways which sounds like it s blasting out full volume from a smoke-filled space patrol hovercar gone rogue then flipping over to side b and waking up in mali, andromeda in a haze of syncopated percussion, other-worldly guitar licks and a billion new synthetically generated sounds that you may strongly suspect you just imagined.....to finally the feather drop which brings entirely new meaning to the word deep and which fires technicolour sounds of profoundly immense variety at the synapses at a rate of knots not many other producers can keep up with as all the while the bass holds court and keeps things deep rooted and dub heavy. secret circuit (aka eddie ruscha v) has had a plethora of releases on an equally expansive plethora of labels under such names as the parels (lal lal lal), blasé (esp institute), food of the gods/laughing light of plenty (whatever we want), odd numbers ( no label), shadow kids (el diablo s social club) and of course as secret circuit (beats in space, emotional response and invisible, inc.)
invisible incs latest limited 12inch brings cosmic adventurer secret circuit into the fold. secret circuit is the project of musician and visual artist eddie ruscha (laughing light of plenty, blase, thriftcoteque, amongst others) whose solo and collaborative activities have issued forth an inordinate number of stellar releases on labels such as emotional response, beats in space, internasjonal spesial, esp institute, exist dance and rush hours no label.
emotional response open the secret circuit archives to some of eddie ruschas contemporaries from the city of angels for a fine exercise in how to do a remix 12inch. first up is suzanne kraft, aka diego herrera who forms one half of blase along with ruscha in his hands the crazy afro-stylings of afrobotics are pulled towards the dancefloor, adding percussion and sirens, forging the originals vibes in to a ethno-beat club jam that is all about that heads down moment. next up the samps turns shockers into a warped mesh of psychedelic dance, whilst superior elevations tom noble adds some killer boogie vibes to underdogs. finally sun araw man cameron stallones appears under rare alter-ego aristrocrat p. child to re-edit roll in superb fashion
invisible inc launches with this 4-track sampler 12/ep from four artists that we plan to be releasing music by over the coming year secret circuit, higamos hogamos, tim love lee and the poncho brothers. packed with modular synthesizer funk, psychedelic wonk, kraut-rock infused space opera and downtempo analogue balearica, the 12 is due to be in shops in early may. already getting praise from soft rocks (esp institute, endless flight), house of traps (firecracker, unthank, sacred summits), dj kaos (rong music, dfa, jolly jams, astrolab), josé manuel (eskimo, kinfolk, disques sinthomme), bobby beige (pork, garden zadar), chuggy (emotional response/especial) and gavin hardkiss (hardkiss, siesta, sunburn
anything eddie ruscha touches is generally worth checking, and this latest outing for lectric sands offshoot its a lectric world is no exception. ruscha kicks things off with the electric dub, an untypically funky fusion of his usual vivid psychedelics, exotic vocal samples, crunchy guitars and an undulating disco-rock groove. the original rub - all bubbling electronics, muted guitar licks and deep house warmth - adds a little balearic disco flavour, before ruscha returns to more familiar territory with the delay-laden and pleasingly out-there lectric dub. finally, he reaches for the marimbas on the pleasing dub, an afro-influenced blast of wide-eyed balearic sunshine complete with lilting pedal steel.
typically eccentric, melodious, atmospheric and bristling with interesting ideas, cosmic vibrations delves deeper into ruschas archives and comes up with gold. highlights are naturally plentiful, but keep an eye out for the psychedelic ambience of electric brain, the analogue electronic explorations of nova laser, and shockers, an acid-flecked chunk of chiming balearic deep house with exotic, arabic touches
delivered from its celestial womb to the human world for inevitable elevation, tactile galactics is the new album by secret circuit and first full-length release from beats in space records.
comes as limited double 12 inch vinyl in gatefold sleeve, mp3 downloadcode included.
the excellent beats in space label continues to impress with each release. following up lauers monster mascat ring down release, eddie rushchas celebrated secret circuit project steps up once again, bringing us *afterlife*. a typically freeform analogue synth workout with fx drenched vocals and that unmistakeable secret circuit vibe who better to handle the remix than the ukraines very own analogue ambassador, vakula. his treatment is a textbook vakula production, warm, expertly evolving, raw machine funk. wrapping things up we have a dub version, in the truest sense of the word, an utterly spaced out and remade rub down. typically superb artwork and shrinkwrapped sleeve packaging as you have come to expect.
with recent releases for internasjonal and tim sweeneys beats in space records, los angeles based producer secret circuit (otherwise known as eddie ruscha) has had a breakthrough year with his brittle synth jams, taking inspiration from balearic disco and minimal wave alike. however, he has been a prolific producer since 1996, and this record on emotional response, entitled tropical psychedelics, collects productions from rusha up until 2010 that have previously only seen the light of day on cassette releases. described by the label as a >balearic-tropical-afro-psychedelic whirl<, the album packs a rich palette of analogue textures into its ten tracks, from the afro dub of >afrobotics<, through the hazy, beatless combination of piano and analogue synth on >psouvenirs< to the psychedelic tropicalia of >foggy twilights<.
JUNGLE DOGS, JUNGLE BONES (PRINS THOMAS / TIAGO RMXS)
12" Vinyl D12.06.12
secret circuit, having been knighted by tastemaker tim sweeney by releasing their first 12? on his beats in space imprint, seriously run the voodoo down with this intense jam:jungle drums, spellbinding exotic chants once obstinately nesting in your head once you heard them, cheeping, bleeping and tweeting dub noises messing with your sense of orientation, gyrating guitar chords in a my bloody valentine style and between all this wonderful sonic chaos a slightly latin jazz tinged piano breaks its way. a beautiful maze of a track where you easily can get lost in for the rest of this summer. on the flip portugals tiago accentuates the cosmic rock vibe throwing in an aggressive guitar riff that sounds very much like chicagos im a man and prins thomas chucks the looser jam-like first part of the original over board and bundles the psychedelic elements to a breathlessly, constantly intensifying pressure cooker.
the debut 12 inch by electronic diviner secret circuit - aka eddie ruscha (also of laughing light of plenty & food of the gods) - is now the physical property of earths people. on >nebula sphynx< analog synths & sequencers burn deep like a tincture of jack house and ham-fisted experimental attack music. the track features special guest circuit cole mgn (the samps, nite jewel), who gives the >sphynx< an extra crispy, cosmic crunch. ruscha keeps the meters peaking on >parascopic rope< with randy drum machine blasts and casio sk-wanderings. each 12 inch from beats in space features original artwork in considerate & serial form. bis002 12 inch features artwork by cf (aka - providence-based artist christopher forgues), purveyor the powr mastrs comic book epic and a finely-tweaked & tuned in dude.
dating from tape recordings made between 1996 - 2012, cosmic vibrations follows the tropical psychedelics (ers003) album for the label, this time digging deeper in to the mind of secret circuit than the more dance flor inspired sounds heard on last years album tactile galactics album for beats in space.
deliverd from its celestial womb to the human world of for inevitable elevation. tactile galactics is the new album by secret circuit, the psychedelic dance music moniker and cosmic interface for los angeles artists eddie rusha jr. cd version features two bonus tracks
LOST TRANSMISSIONS FROM THE OFF-WORLD TERRITORIES (2X12 INCH)
2x12" Vinyl UK27.08.18
that summer i developed somewhat of an obsession with tontos expanding head band after having seen them perform at the big chill festival that year. the music blew my mind. later upon my return to civilisation and the ensuing research which then began in earnest i became as much blown away by the enormous t.o.n.t.o. (the original new timbral orchestra) modular synthesizer that had created the music as i was by the music itself. built in the early 70s, it s still the largest synthesizer around today. with the live show still resonating in my head i tracked down everything tonto had ever recorded. one of these tracks was an obscure outtake from the time t.o.n.t.o.s creators, malcolm cecil and robert margouleff, were producing and engineering for stevie wonder in the 70s(https://youtu.be/wuaszff7yq0). the track, bittersweet, only ever appeared on a highly limited self-released cd put together to coincide with their appearance at the big chill. consequently i featured it on a few mixes i did over the years and invariably id be asked whats that track? by those with an ear for something unique. and invariably these same people, many of them djs, would turn away disgruntled when i informed them it was cd only. although i didn t know it at the time, the seed was definitely sown for this vinyl compilation that you now hold in your hands.

THE CORRESPONDANT GOMMA JOINTS (LAUER, SECRET CIRCUIT RMXS)
12" Vinyl D04.04.16
this vinyl ep is a collaboration between paris label correspondant and germanys gomma records. remixes by los angeles finest psychedelic electronic producer secret circuit (beats in space records) and german shooting star lauer (partner of gerd janson at tuff city kids). why this ep? gomma has a long history with the paris scene. mathias munk modica who runs gomma (and sublabel toy tonics) has been living in france for many years. he worked with many parisian artists from dj chloe (on munks first album aperitivo 2004) to the ed banger crew or black strobe. probably apart of berlin there is no city in the world that saw more gomma events than paris. seems only a project with jennifer cardini missed. so jennifer invited mathias last year to send over tracks. decision was made fast. and so wurlitzer wank and the bösus bounce have come up on correspondant.
on this special compilation celebrating bis 15th anniversary we are treated to three discs of stellar picks from tim s record bag. this vinyl version containins a host of exclusive tracks and edits from azari & iii, edwin starr, dukes of chutney & secret circuit. long live beats in space!
last year s acclaimed sea power & change ep, a melancholic project from the mind of celebrated portuguese powerhouse tiago, is now revisited through the lens of three essential esp institute artists. side a gives us a take on strange fruit by our heroes soft rocks a smacked up dub/boogie rendition leaving the beautifully dark mood intact whilst twisting the the rhythms toward the tough side. on side b, secret circuit (eddie ruscha of laughing light of plenty, and soon to release his solo release for esp) stuffs wild combination in his saddle and takes us for a ride through a futuristic version of the wild west with a funky bassline and distant whistles, only to be rounded out by a blissed-out epic re-rendering of yesterday is gone by somberero galaxys jonny nash. its a family affair.
