without a doubt, manfredi romano (aka dj tennis) is a busy man. co-founder and partner of life and death, a dj with a full schedule and someone who still always has his fingers (and mind) in multiple projects and multiple places at the same time. how he juggles it (or when he sleeps) are questions best not pondered. one thing those who know him well have surely noticed is that he does it all while constantly on the move. unfazed by the constant whirl of cities that pass him by, he somehow manages to remain focused throughout. no matter where he goes, he somehow always manages to remain local.

36 hours in. the lights are flickering and the sweat is pouring out of you like the thoughts that you re trying to write down, to get down the words, to put down the message, to translate all the ideas that keep appearing in your head. ideas like uninvited guests that keep showing up and refusing to leave. somewhere though, there s a truth in there. you know it because you saw it. you know it because you felt it. because when you knew that even though there were ten million reasons why you should go to bed now, why you should go to bed straight away. that you should put these silly things down and stop trying to create and just get some sleep already. that you should stop trying to wrestle the ideas in your subconscious down to the ground so you can actually capture and express them to others. but you persist.

argot records was born in 2006 in riccione (italy) from the stable relationship and friendship of the two musicians and djs pepe and giaga. they created it to make their music more freely, without impositions, with an own identity, fascinated on every kind of test.

brand new release on mondo groove with a remix double pack of selected tracks from daniele baldelli classic cosmic temple six chapters that were out on the italian label from 2015 to 2017. you can find everything for everyone in these new versions. dj tennis and in flagranti tributing pure cosmic sound with their interpretations of gandharva and afelio, dj ralf transforming kosmaro into a house stomper, tiger & woods adding their subtle boogie touch and edit science to vhanessa, clap!clap! going deep and percussive on isotropo funk, alkalino tripping italo-disco with „inner light, club paradiso in an afro-balearic clash on joka joka, eric duncan working a deep-techy groove on diffrazione, and dionigi, often production partner of baldelli, finishing in glory with a brilliant funky take on taxon. you cant sleep on this.

my favorite robots next release is a very special remix by dj tennis. it initially comes as a 10 white vinyl and will then be available digitally in autumn. mfrs ‘barricade was first released on dj tenniss life and death label back in 2012. it was a huge house track that resonates to this day, so it makes sense the taste- making italian steps up to remix it. he is someone with a cultured take on brooding house and techno, as evidenced by the music he a&rs for his label as well as things like his own standout dj-kicks mix from last year. his new remix is a masterfully melancholic one that starts with a delicate ambient synth line hanging in mid air. breathy vocals eventually arrive to send shivers down the spine and finally, deep, rolling, mid tempo kicks bring a groove that carries you away into a reverie. its made all the more mournful and poignant thanks to some broad synth chords and swirling pads later on and is sure to provide a real centre point of any seriously emotional set. this is a stunning and absorbing single and another high point for my favorite robot records.

dj tennis is amazing, and the fact that he was willing to do not one but two remixes for our simple symmetry release, is more than amazing. dj tennis needs no introductions, beside the point that he is one of the best djs around and has one of the coolest labels, life and death, he is a gifted producer that transformed the two tracks of the original release into monsters, one, plane goes east, is a disco winner, that just bangs with its percussive attitude, and the other, voodoo your ex is an amazing emotional journey that elevates the original to new heights, a vinyl to have and to hold.
