the last record in wunderkind gerry reads trilogy of 12 inches arrives to round off the first stellar year for fourth wave. all by myself carelessly builds and chops through a dusty loop and brooding male vocal, like a inebriated bum woozily recalling all but forgotten nights dancing at the music box in the early 80s. continuing on the chicago theme, gerry cracks out a jazzy sample and clipped vocals on what a mess blending in his own unique style the unlikely bedfellows of disco house and drone. drone disco house, anybody?

sometime you cant keep a good remix down, and we certainly felt that with these two beastly versions by two very exciting producers of bass music.

there are a number of producers who are known for being prolific, roska, cooly g, benga to name a few, and now gerry read can be added to that list. the cambridgeshire producer has only a handful of actual releases to his name, but a vault of hundreds. we can well imagine his hardrive straining from the sheer velocity of ideas that he sends our way. raw, urgent and frequently off kilter, gerrys production challenges your ears but always manages to lock in the groove.

we are proud to be dropping a first physical release here at live ones in the form of a hand numbered, hand stamped 10 inch vinyl. no digital and limited to 300 units. we are not big into hype here but we are chuffed with the product… lorca – handling the production duties on the a side. he has recently made the move from south west london down to brighton and has been solidifying his name under his latest moniker (lorca). this move has seen him play alongside the likes of james blake, joy orbison, ramadanman, xxxy to name but a few. lorcas sound is becoming more and more distinct, whether he has built the track by the sea or on his london house boat you can be sure there will be a big bass wave to ride. gerry read – taking care of the b side. mr read has also been gathering speed and stripes within the bass scene, having just penned a contract with 2nd drop records. his physical releases are already getting spins from the likes of giles petterson on the bbc, mj cole, untold plus more. he really has become a sound to be reckoned with.
