blocks and escher give us their debut 12 inch for metalheadz, hot on the heels of the pairs contribution to the platinum breakz 4 album which was called *madness*. this release is the archetypical headz sound. blocks and escher have an uncanny ability to capture the golden age aesthetic whilst moving head first toward the future.

narratives music returns with release number five and with it a special collaborative single that brings some of drum & bass biggest names together to create one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year so far. with album projects on exit records and non plus respectively, loxy, resound & asc have been pushing their uncompromising sounds for years via some of the scenes freshest and most forward thinking labels. this coming together with label owners blocks & escher has forged two highly contrasting but intrinsically linked tracks. dj support includes: goldie, friction, loxy, dbridge.

narratives music marks its first year as a label with release number four and with it, the first piece of original music to grace the label from an artist other than label owners blocks and escher. the young talent overlook steps up to deliver a track capturing the very ethos of the label and continues from where narratives 003 left off. cinematic soundscapes give way to a rhythm work out that nods to the works of photek and source direct but drags and kicks those sounds into the future. relentless and unnerving this one never stays still, progressing and developing for what seems a super short 7 minutes.blocks and escher retake the reigns for the flip side and remind us that this label will never be pigeon holed, it wants to surprise. *embers* unleashes again the emotive keys and melancholic synths revealed previously in this pairs music but carries a weight and character that takes it far beyond shoe gazing ambient. it feels like a track pulling against the chains of dnb and as a contrast to the other side of the single, leaves the listener in wonder of where the label is heading next.

entering in to 2012, blocks and escher present their own label, narratives music. formed primarily as an outlet for their own work alongside collaborations and remixes, the emphasis is on releasing music which encapsulates the atmosphere, emotion and excitement that made them fall in love with the genre in the 1990s. the narratives name itself, is derived from the imagery and stories felt and gathered from music, the way that a listener may cast their own interpretation and build their own subjective narrative. the three tracks on the debut release demand to be listened to in their entirety. three journeys together, inscribing a balanced impression of the narratives sound.

following heavyweight releases from the likes of benga, youngman, kutz and breakage... blocks & escher come with their debut release on shy fxs mighty digital soundboy imprint. blocks hailing from south london and production partner escher from brighton have already released on the critically acclaimed horizons music label with their sought after >heart shaped< single and have recently set up their own label narratives.

t’s been two and half years since the release of jubei’s landmark debut album for metalheadz and now we are proud to present the remix package. the remix ep has new interpretations from a hand-picked selection of the finest artists- om unit, blocks and escher, ulterior motive and skeptical all turn in massive remixes that makes this release as special as the original project.
