recondite has announced his fifth album, daemmerlicht , on his own plangent records. translated as -fading light,- the new album finds the bavarian musician exploring novel territory, combining his love of instrumental hip hop and downbeat with ambient and classical music. the result is recondite s most focused, meditative work yet. from the haunting soundscapes of -lichtung,- to the cinematic beauty of closing track -immer da,- the album demonstrates a new level of sophistication to lorenz brunner s venerated catalogue of work. making conscious use of atmosphere and space, the album ultimately harkens to brunner s unique upbringing in lower bavaria.

following up his recently-released remixes of scubas single >the hope< on hotflush, plagent records boss recondite returns to the label, this time with a solo 12 inch titled drgn / wist 365. recalling some of the moodiest moments from >on acid<, his recent lp devoted to the sounds of the 303, this debut shows recondite stay true to his sombre and tension-inducing roots. >drgn<, the sonic equivalent to traversing a bleak end-of-times landscape, is a journey replete with a relentless, melodic sib-bass and vibrating synth, on the flip recondite gives the 9-minute long >wist 365< a drum workout, resulting in a progressive, menacing groove, awash with wind chimes and 808 claps.

for many great artists, going back is the way to move forward. with this in mind, berlin-based producer recondite looked to his homeland of lower bavaria for his debut ghostly international release, hinterland. *i tried to capture the areas mentality and natural environment within the album,* he explains. *particularly the moods that behold the emotions of the four seasons, which differ a lot in this region.* in fact, most of the field recordings featured in this 10-track lp were taken in his recent visits to the free state in southeastern germany.

following his recent roland tb-303 experiments for absurd and his understated reworking of scubas the hope, berlins recondite has put together the debut release on boutique-label trolldans, based in the city of kontra-musik.

making a techno shift, midnight shifts third release sees recondite on his upward trajectory pair up with the relatively reserved julien h mulder. both outputs possess a stripped down aesthetic, but while the former shows up straight up and shiny, the latter introduces lightness and play. a tightly packed, hardworking 4-track ep that will serve the many moods of a dj well.

a new plangent release is always a pleasure. recondite rapidly established his name with his first 2 releases on his own label, initially been pressed up in a small run of handful white labels, but picked up by the clone guys and since then each release is being pressed in small +-300 copies editions. small intimate techno music bridging the gap between the gentle late 90s early 00s electronica and deeper german techno from labels such as smallville, dial and giegling (and sometimes even linking to some brittish bass music). seductive tracks that slowly build up and make time go by in the most gentle and pleasant way!

the three tracker gets off with a lovely post basic channel, dub techno interpretation of a techno track for the warmer days. the b side does a great job in fusing soft beats and low key melodies with raw structure,drive and pressure. plangent records slowly becomes the face for the otherside of berlin techno together with a label such as giegling. gritty deep techno, with some influences from dubstep here and there... slowly moving away from the much abused detroit reference. definitely worth the listen!

new label that was was recommended to us by hotflush label owner paul rose who knew recondite from a local berlin hangout. we immediatly liked it because this is clearly done for the love of the music. pressed in a ultra limited 200 copies run (of which a first batch have been given away already to friends of the label owner) we managed to get the remaining copies for you. four tracks of deep techno that is a collection of snapshots of recondites daily live. somehow melancholic, adventurous and lush tracks that also can be found in the productions of labels such as dial. dont sleep on this one!!

while the record can be enjoyed in one long listen, there are going to be different tracks that speak to individual listeners. clouded is one of the stronger arrangements, taking the sonic sweeps often heard from marcel dettmann or function and filling the surrounding space with dreamy samples and warm bass. stems is playful and fluid, and the records opener, rise is an eerie and melodic tinkering intro. as a whole, the release of hinterland on ghostly international is a perfect marriage the label has always had an affinity for music with depth and frequencies that can magnetize a wide variety of listeners
