the highly anticipated debut album from london based duo amoss is finally here, we are pleased to introduce “everything is temporary”. backing an impressive run of dispatch eps and singles, “everything is temporary” is the culmination of amoss so far, written alongside heavy touring, through years of scrutinous, hard graft in the studio, the album is a snapshot into their progression. pressurising themselves with the concept of what an album should entail, it was codebreaker’s monologue “everything is temporary” that changed their view on the project, inspiring them to stick true to themselves and deliver raw, unfiltered material that would be an honest reflection of amoss over the years and today.

after only two years since their first release on cyclone, amoss have become one of the most exciting and forward thinking names in drum & bass. a love of music stretching back into both their pasts, the duo have amazed audiences across the globe with the style, panache and variation which has characterised their work. taking a lead from names such as renegade hardware and moving shadow, james and andrew have successfully moulded their influences into a futuristic, genre-defining sound.
now they are ready to step up a notch, delivering a new release for the mighty horizons label. bumbaclart and dilate will go a long way to cementing their reputation for big, bad and heavy d&b, which has seen them being supported by spectrasoul, london elektricity, storm, loxy and more. amoss are known for their involving, evolving blend of beats and bass and their in-depth knowledge of the technical side of production, and the two tracks on show here are markers of their intention, in two markedly different ways.

we have been eagerly awaiting their return to dispatch and in spring 2015, we are pleased to welcome back amoss to the label for a three track single. developing their signature sound and technical prowess, the duo balance a mixed palette of styles for various moods, demonstrating a maturity and increased versatility in production in their first label release since the acclaimed *state of suspension ep*.

amoss step into lively territories with their 2014 return to horizons music. this single sees a vip rework of their 2013 collaboration with mcjc, *bleed it*, originally featured on the dreamthief 4 lp. this rework brings a complete change in groove and mood to the table, incorporating a more syncopated beat with a much deeper bass presence. *calokan* is a throwback to the duos early horizons music releases, but with an added twist. the dramatic and textural intro paired with an array of odd field recordings makes for an intense atmosphere whilst maintaining a heavy underlying sub laden roll. those that are familiar with amoss will know all too well that the second drop always has something special in store, in this case a straight, two step beat smashes through the breakdown, adding a huge switch up to the overall energy of this track.

plasma audio mark the first step in their record labels life with a huge remix of safire & amoss track 4th state feat gusto, from the dutch production lord, icicle, of shogun audio fame. with its four furious minutes having been spoken for, the focus shifts to 2012 and chavland, the two less crushing than 4th state but compelling on their own terms. with a distorted, grime soaked vocal growl in tow, 2012 digs into its trippy glitchtronic vibe and future-funk groove with serious headnodding purpose, before chavland rolls out a muscular, high-velocity neurofunk pulse to re-establish the releases drum n bass character.

for the very first vinyl plate of the transit 2 album, we present two distinctly separate tracks from right across the broad d&b production spectrum, both pieces of music presenting something completely different yet both just as damaging as each another.

tangent is the latest in a succession of high quality releases, coming as it does after sessions for dispatch, renegade hardware and now, horizons. as with the rest of their output, tangent, which is backed with the geode remix, shows off their technical abilities and their unifying desire to move the crowd. their mutual love of music, and early experience in a range of bands, has transmogrified into a searing, urgent awareness of what is funky and groovy in d&b. tangent, in the two forms on show here, will only increase their visibility and star status within the scene.

footloose vip: amoss bring a 2012 rethink of their track footloose from their 2011 spectrum ep, delivering a broodingly heavy take on the original. the atmospheric intro sets the stage for what is perhaps the duo s most sinister tune to date. with a quick build and the originals dub style vocal hook, the drop hits with a shattering, industrial style weight. booming kicks, combined with smacking snares and shuffling hi-hats sit atop of a pulsing sub whilst airy side chained effects provide a grooving movement throughout. with the second drop a distorted synth delivers a warehouse rave style attitude topping off this grungy slab of steppy drum & bass.

amoss follow up their hugely successful severance / locked in 12 inch on inside with another dancefloor tuned 12 inch. headrush takes a deep rolling form, solid beats and an underlying block of bass to match. the signature darkened growls that have become an amoss staple bust through the mix adding a sinister twist to complete the track.
beartrap takes a similar direction to finish this dark 12 inch. the track bursts with grunge as sludgy bass and haunting pads balance over a rough yet razor edged beat. this track is a certified low end shaker.

minus: a reverb heavy drum break combined with a sinister synth hook creates the atmospheric intro of minus, only to be pushed aside by the metallic bass stabs that are supported by a backbone of percussive.
splitface: varied arrangement gives the track a flowing dynamic throughout. gnarled orchestral stabs, deep sub basslines and rolling drums provide a full slice of funk to this flipside.

footloose: dangerous 2-stepper with a tribalistic tendency. snappy beats, fat bass and a vocal sample that is recognisable in any mix. this tune demonstrates how simplicity can sometimes be the best source of dancefloor funk.
throw back: throw back provides the ultimate turnaround, as lush, warm pads kick this tune off, a false sense of calm is broken apart by a stepping, disjointed beat. delayed fx and distorted reeses fluctuate in and out adding the raw vibe that amoss are known for.
secondary: providing the heavier edge to the ep, secondary pushes forward with a stomping beat. distorted bass filters underneath as a dubbed out vocal echoes overhead.
astrodome: entering the void of the strange and weird, astrodome is the dark-side of amoss spectrum. clunking beats paired with a drone like bass sit amongst a textural array of atmospherics with the inclusion of some amen theatrics.
