for fifteen years traveling in the world of electronic music, this dj & producer has established itself as one of the most emblematic of the techno scene. he remarkably incarnates the freshness of those young artists who know how to sum up a decade of electronic culture, adding their own strength, skills and personal touch to it. the energy of his songs is also appreciated by the names of the techno world, from boys noize to laurent garnier. the latter moreover honored him by playing the key title of this ep at the time warp festival: excelsior, which had so already intrigued the internet users through a video extract of the festival. madben as for him encloses this opus with a sober and powerful remix.

elvis costello presents old and new songs in a unique big-band orchestra setting – recorded live at north sea jazz festival – here is his first rock ’n’ jazz album! originally released in 2006, this release is now available on vinyl for the very first time. pressing on blue coloured 180 gram vinyl with download code included.

next on raw tools is irish producer and label owner, costelloe, delivering two tracks much in the manner of his previous works, both of them at the fine line between techno and house music.
while the title track, “infiniti” is definitely a dance floor track, with its rave pads and solid bassline, “pheta x” shows a more darker side of costelloe’s music. both of these cuts get special treatment from two of the most prolific and respected producers out there, lerosa and dj overdose, rounding off the ep with two amazing, yet diverse remixes.

a busy year ahead for techno label signal code records. last year seen vinyls from label head costelloe along with duplex, mark du mosh, defekt and simoncino. the labels sound has grown into an indescribable mix of future retro techno. taking a classic sound and putting a modern twist on it. its a busy start to 2015 with two hot 12inchs already planned for the first two months. the first is a 4 tracker from label head costelloe featuring two remixes from glasgow power house and clone and creme organisation regular marco bernardi. classic techno and electro given a modern twist. quickly following the release will see a 12 inch from l.i.e.s man simoncino with sex tag manias dj sotofett providing a dubbed out mix. it is a busy start for 2015.

elvis costello and the roots have announced that a collaborative album entitled wise up ghost will be exclusively released by blue note records. the existence of the record was first revealed by ?uestlove as an aside during an interview with billboard magazine in january. a small number of test pressings were distributed as white labels on record store day on the 20th of april and now the full album is finally here! it promises to be one of the most unexpected and surprising releases of 2013.

as you may already know about it, the artist costello (who is living in bordeaux at the moment) is releasing his first ep on boxon records. costello, 23 years old dj/producer, already appeared in international labels (plasmapool, party like us, big fish recordings, dust traxx chicago) and made remixes of artists such as missil, dilemn, stereoheroes, udachi or gooseflesh. thanks to his insane shows, his youth influenced by a good dose of strength and technique, and his electro 90s sounding break, rock or hip-hop, he managed to make a name.

there are few artists these days who consistently succeed to focus their passions, talents and instincts into deliciously individual, melancholic, beautiful and timeless recordings. irish born donnacha costello is amongst the highest ranks of such artists. poker flat is proud to announce donnacha costellos new full length album, >before we say goodbye<. echoes of chicago house, detroit techno, and uk ambient techno flow through its futuristic core, as we find donnacha exploring further his love for deep, hypnotising grooves, rich synth themes and emotive harmonies. this vinyl version features four cuts taken from the long-player.

after recent successes on his other label, donnacha costello returns to his look long imprint with the storming one sided monster that is ten thousand hours. to begin, an ominous, growling, analog siren calls out from costellos roland sh-101, alerting us that our presence is required on the dancefloor before rattling, shuffling hi-hats mark out the groove and we head out on an ecstatic 7 minute analogue journey through a universe inhabited by wispy shadows of s-express, 808 state, mathew jonson and costellos own classic colorseries sound. words dont do justice to this one. simply drop the needle on the record and escape to an alternate universe on a magic carpet of analog synths and drum machines. ten thousand hours appears as a very limited one sided vinyl edition and wont be re-pressed. dont sleep

as costello continues to look long, the grooves continue to flow. lng3 sees the reissue of the deep house classic pleite which originally appeared on trapez in 2003. recorded in dublin in 2002, this version has been mastered at dubplates and mastering, berlin in 2009. the results are stunning and serve as a welcome reminder of costelloÆs deep roots. pleite (costello dub) in particular could teach some of todayÆs hyperactive producers a thing or two about setting up a solid groove and letting it sit. the timing of this reissue could not be more perfect with regard to the current musical zeitgeist. the title, a german colloquialism for broke or indeed bankrupt which was an in-joke at the time of the original release, takes on a new significance in the context of global economic recession.

donnacha costello returns with another release for his new label and platform, look long. the tragedy of the commons sees him continuing his mission to create work of lasting quality and beauty. gatsby has that most rare and ephemeral quality, that certain something not easily defined. work which is at once both raw and full of subtlety. something which is at once both instantly familiar and yet inescapably new. fathoms deep pulls the listener in with each rotation until we are so thoroughly hypnotised we cannot but surrender to its insistent, organic pulse. baritoneÆs melancholy lo-fi guitars and roland 606 drums wrap around us like a warm blanket on a cold night. a private oasis, a moment of comfort in a lonely city before the body gives in to sleep. this is no throwaway music. this is music to keep, to live with, to grow with. this is music in which comfort can be sought and solace found

how many of todayÆs producers have been releasing music for 13 years? not many. how many will still be recording 13 years from now? hard to say. what can be said without doubt however is that donnacha costello is in this for the long haul. since 1996 he has released dozens of 12&#8243,,,s and made significant contributions to electronic music from 2001Æs classic ambient album together is the new alone to 2004Æs universally acclaimed colorseries to 2006Æs rigorously conceptual 6x6=36 amongst others. shedding the skin of his ten year old minimise label, costello emerges from its semantic stranglehold to bring us his new label and platform look long. from this first release it is clear that costello aims to produce work of lasting quality and beauty with little regard for what a turbulent marketplace might expect of him. complexity and simplicity are addressed in equal measure here and with some surprise we find traces of eric satie, chet baker, pat metheny and steve reich. perhaps unsurprisingly we also find the unmistakable traces of grace and emotion that have become costelloÆs trademarks
