need for mirrors head up horizons 078 with the *food ep*. a symposium of sound that grips you from the very start. an array of brutally hard hitting elements dominate the tracks, whilst not detracting from the musicality and invention of them. with plenty of nods to the past, in particular to the golden era of tech step tunes in the late 90s - this is a modern take on a classic recipe.

dlr has proved undoubtedly one of the stronger forces to emerge onto the d&b scene and onto the dispatch imprint since last year entirely in his own right as a solo artist, we hereby proudly present you with his next single. as a prelude to dlr’s own solo forthcoming dispatch album, we welcome two killer tracks as part of this single. led by a collab of colossal proportions, via a link up with dutch wizard nymfo and the groove masters need for mirrors + hlz, their individual talents combine to form *totem*. this is backed by a solo track from dlr *novate*, an all-out homage to a late 90s tech sound of old that is still clearly loved by many.

after their recent samurai red seal debut, mosus and hlz aka need for mirrors return with yet another diverse duo of tunes further displaying their confident versatility. >fishscale< is disturbingly heavy in the low end, so much so we advise planning your sets around it as it makes most other recent drum and bass tunes sound like the bass kill switch is on. the tunes strident step and familiar vocal connect the dots between vintage jonny l and doc scott productions and the year 2011. >retrograde< is the darkest tune to ever be released on samurai red seal. its ragged beauty caught our attention instantly though, and many a crowd has fallen victim to its cute malice. dj bailey (metalheadz / 1xtra) has been one of this tunes strongest supporters.
