ltd 2019 repress - debut album from blawan, possibly one of the finest techno records you ll hear this year ... physically and mentally draining in the best way possible, wet will always dry is maybe the most complete statement from blawan to date, and as such should be ignored at your peril. this becomes evident from the album-opening “klade,” a dizzying, tumbling flight of pure energy over overlapping fields of electrified menace. this sets the stage for “careless,” which retains the hazardous, crackling atmosphere but dials back the intensity just enough to make room for a new feature, blawan’s eerie and disembodied vocals.

highly recommended!! parassela is the live and studio project of the analogue cops and blawan. they are back on restoration record with the “flunkey” e.p., an explosive 4 tracker of massive hardware jams. uptempo beats, heavy basses, suspicious noises, obnoxious analogue pads. raw-fi techno at its state of the art, helically scanned with no hesitation to 12.7 mm. magnetic bands.

2016 repress - r&s welcome another newcomer to the family. with only one release behind him on hessle audio and a wicked remix for warp (the hundred in the hands) blawan finds his new tracks in demand from the likes of james blake, jackmaster, untold, ben ufo, ramadanman and pariah. the title track is already creating a bit of a stir from its inclusion in a few high profile dj sets, but all three tracks raise the game for this young producer. the whole ep is filled with an honest, infectious energy, just like his dj sets. you cant pigeonhole this as >post< anything, its pure, stripped down, club music. sometimes drums, bass and acid is all you need.

blawan’s new side project bored young adults is up next on will bankhead’s label the trilogy tapes. the shy dancers on bungalowdorf beach features some restrained and slow burning techno experiments that differ from jamie robert’s more usual hard-hitting sounds. the seething title track treads the same path as kassem mosse or vactrol park. the fentanyl techno of “but we need this bench” sounds like an old regis record played on -8, while devoted fans of the young uk producer’s sound will get something a bit more familiar on the menacing hypnotic techno grinder “check up from the neck up”.

a surprising collaboration between mannella and the uk technos bearer - blawan- that clearly establish a deep techno-space, where the quirky sounds are free to be developed and created. right from the very first second of the dark breeze, which spreads a fluid, echoing and fickle synth, we can hear those fuzzy noises that mannella loves to use. a perfect combo is given by the presence of intense drums, thorough pads and harped synths: a total head-trip that flows in the whole ep. then, with i know you are a cheerful air gain the upper hand, leading it to be theperfect dance floor track. even if is just the second release, its pretty explicit the aim that the label has come to play in music today.

hessle audio?s thirteenth excursion comes from blawan, a 22-year-old producer from barnsley, yorkshire. this is blawan?s debut release. hessle audio was formed in leeds in early 2007 by david kennedy, ben thomson and kevin mcauley. the label has released tunes by trg, martyn, james blake, pangaea, ramadanman / pearson sound, joe and untold. in addition, hessle audio tunes have appeared on compilations by tempa, soul jazz and global underground. hessle audio hold a residency at london club fabric.
