having spent the last seven years delivering impressive singles on a variety of labels - most notably aus music, secretsundaze and hype_ltd - ewan smith has decided the time is right to unleash his debut album under the youandewan alias.

youandewan makes his voyage debut with luna via, a three track ep sitting comfortably at home, above the ether. the opening piece is spread across the a side, with two separate interpretations, ciel and vessel . ciel is the faster, uplifting predecessor to vessel , which remains slow and nostalgic. on the flip, a touch of familiarity with the antonymously named stranger (glad eye), a surging take on house music and youandewan s various influences. luna via is also accompanied by a full sleeve interpretation by melbourne s sprinkles.

aus music follow up another solid year of releases that included both eps and albums from their ever-expanding family with their first of 2015 - another offering from berlin based youandewan. consistently modest in his ascent, youandewan has steadily built his reputation behind releases on secretsundaze, hypercolour and simple records as well his release on aus back in june of 2014

after almost a years hiatus, simple records make a return with their first ep of 2013 from leeds starlet youandewan. ewan smith has been making a name for himself with his deep, dozy and ever so slightly melancholy take on house.

after 20 superb 12 inch single releases over five and half years in the game, uk label, 2nd drop, is proud to present its first compilation, future foundations, featuring a mixture of established artists who have graced the label previously, alongside a handful of exciting new acts generating some serious hype on the scene right now. this compilation is the first of many that will bear the future foundations title. we have assigned each 12 inch with a number, *foundation 1, foundation 2* and so on, viewing these chunks of superb music as the foundations of an on-going, multi-layered aural concept that will document the rich and varied output of the label and its artists for the foreseeable future.

youandewans utterly spellbinding and unutterably lovely >1988< is given the remix treatment by one of the few artists with a delicate enough touch to handle it with the care it deserves. jimpster teases in a beautifully soft synth hook from the outset followed by the heavenly keys of the original before bringing the entire mix together with a gently bubbling bassline. pure summer bliss.

next for disfigured dubz is the debut single from leeds based producer youandewan the story goes that one day whilst relaxing by the pool in ibiza, ewans manager played some of his demos on the soundsystem with skream in company and he was gripped, two tracks were signed to disfigured dubz and here they are. a: youandme (on my mind) harks back to the days when 2 step garage ruled the london airwaves and gives a nostalgic look back to the pre-dubstep revolution. a crackling warm rhodes loop and atmospheric field recordings warm the cones whilst vocal snippets creep in and float amongst the classic 2 step beats. tension builds, temperatures rise and the bass blows like a cool breeze on a summers afternoon. aa: zeal is the perfect complement to the a-side. again with the winning combo of rhodes piano, soulful vocals, snapping 2 step beats and glittering effects that bring the feel good factor to a maximum. this one just oozes sunshine.

still only 20, leeds-based youandewan has emerged as one of the stand-out raw talents of 2009. he has been featured in future music magazine. and he is already receiving support from steve bug, slam, nick warren, technasia, gavin herlihy, silicone soul, brothers vibe, arnaud le texier to name a few
