ross alexander payne has always been interested in the earth and its relationship to all in its vicinity, this includes earths place within the universe, and the presence upon earth of both natural and manmade systems and processes. drift and expansion are tracks designed to represent a view of earth from space. it was previously believed that the earth was expanding and thus the continental land masses were moving as a result of this process. modern scientific evidence does not support this idea, and the theory of plate tectonics is now almost universally accepted. this ep represents a view of the idea of these two disparate theories as if taken from the direct space around earth. ross explains in his words >everything i do, be it music related or otherwise, is driven by this fascination with the universe around me, the quest to discover this universe and the desire to expand my knowledge of all within it<

2009 was a great year for these days records, and 2010 promises to be even better. the platform stood out for its innovative yet functional club sound and unique artwork concepts. the new year begins with a new split series under the name universal consciousness, based on the idea of connection between all things, and that all things have been coordinated, and they combine to make up the same universe. the first part is dedicated to two very different takes on spiritual, cosmic space techno. on the a-side argys >sometimes im blind< generates a long and uplifting emotional climax, which features a solo that will forever stay in your heart. the track was recorded at the end of 2008, and despite numerous offers to release the record elsewhere, nothing was finalised and the recording never saw the light of day. soon after the birth of his own label, it naturally fit the platform and seemed a perfect way to start the new year. on the flip side, sheffield born alexander ross, brings forth a cavernous techno piece awash with reverberation and spacial echos that brings a driving yet non the less emotionally captivating moment perfectly in balance with the depth of the a-side.

this is the fourth release of the future roots series, the trials and tribulations of the first three download releases overwhelmingly convinced producer dj deep that a vinyle series was of an utmost necessity to authenticate the project..the aventure thus starts here..future roots is dedicated to new talents and is a subdivision of deeply rooted house .....future roots is very happy to welcome english artist alexander ross to the label. born in sheffield and now residing in berlin after a number of years traveling and working throughout the world, ross credits his formative years in his birth town with its rich, diverse musical history and world renowned community of passionate musicians and promoters as his greatest influence and the place where the foundations where laid for his dedicated and inevitably lifelong relationship with quality music in all of its many forms. ross first official release earlier this year on these days records saw him collaborate with greek artist argy on the hugely powerful see no evil which gained widespread praise from a broad range of djs and fans of the label alike. the apparent line...ep is made up of three spacial, driving drum tracks which draw influence in equal parts from alexander ross interest in reverb washed dub, deep techno and the cyclic, rolling grooves of percussive african music. the pieces utilise tight dynamic rhythms and expansive, echoing reverberations to create three striking and effective moments. support from carl craig, josh wink, laurent garnier, loco dice, argy, manuel tur, martin landsky, manoo & more!
