optimo trax is an offshoot label of optimo music for tracks aimed at djs/dancefloors. yes, we know there are too many record labels already, but we felt an overriding desire to start another one as so much music that didnt seem quite right for optimo music (i.e. music that was specifically designed for dancing) kept coming our way. like the parent label, optimo trax will release music by new artists and excavate forgotten classics.

milanese duo the barking dogs return to the gomma label for a superb new single featuring rush hours tom trago and a remix from the ever-excellent analogue cops. you high shows why the pair have been picking up dedicated support from the likes of james murphy (dfa), soul clap and toally enrmous extinct dinosaurs.

nice price deal !!! the new gomma 12 inch comes from two friends from milano italy. cristian croce and nicola mazzetti are the barking dogs since 2006: two djs with different musical backgrounds and solid experiences. they run famous record shop in milan >serendeepity< and are known as party animals: their dj-sets spread the same energy and passion that they put in their musical research. under their shop in the center of milan they have a huge collection of vintage sinths and drum machines. they love this raw, dirty sound of the late 80ies. big city grooves. they had a few releases: in 2008 >re-incantation<, a balearic trip quickly sold-out in europe, ìthe guitar manî >hi-nrg< on mad on the moon.their rush hour single >hit the ground/fare una donna/alibi< was quoted by 2manydjs, horse meat disco, trevor jackson and many others. a nice barking dogs track was also part of last years italo now compilation on gomma records.

for this project the barking dogs rework two tracks by jessie evans, adding their producing skills to her post-punk sax and vocals lines and giving us two old school burning, sweaty killers. the pack is complete with remixes from a couple of hot names on the scene. altz with his enormous, mad remix (something really unique, we where stunned when we first listened to this one) and the deep acid version from rune lindbaek & mental overdrive.

toy tonics mushroom house series brings together different shades of afro-weirdo-psychedelic vibes in dance music. all tracks have been made exclusively for toy tonics. the musical range is wide: the third ep goes from arabic guitars to nubian chants and looots of percussions. the bass drum is four-on-the-floor, but switches from midtempo (kiwi: we are here) to classic new york lofi disco grooves (ponty mython) the other 2 tracks on the ep feature an emptier vibe: less toms more drum machines. more techno. red axes deliever probably one of their weirdest works. their munk rework is pure craziness. the melodies come from another space. the last track on the ep is made by old toy tonics friends from milano: the barking dogs. they teamed up with tom trago in the basement studio of the great record store they run in milan: serendeepity records. they are known for selling obscure, but classy music for dance floors and thats what they do when the make music on their own. like on your high: an obscure groove meets a sloppy bassline and stoned vocals.
