following the release of his collaborative ep with arovane on apollo records, synkro is proud to present the first release on his own label synkro musik. despite having come up during the dubstep era mcbride’s music has always resisted easy classification - ‘luminous’ sees him shift his musical focus back towards the autonomic / ambient drum & bass sound of his early works for apollo & exit records, backed with a killer remix from drumfunk legend & good friend dev paradox.

synkro aka joe mcbride teams up with veteran arovane aka uwe zahn for a sublime collaborative ep on apollo. refractive (index) sees the duo exploring their shared love of broken beats and dreamy soundscapes. the pair are also connected through their affection for yamahas venerable handheld sequencer, the qy700 (also a favourite of dutch lo-fi house master legowelt) arovane a long time stalwart of the acclaimed city centre offices imprint explains: everything started with a detail in an interview with joe that grabbed my attention. i spotted a qy700 sequencer from yamaha on one photo. i used this piece of gear for decades to sequence all of my hardware and to produce my music. its part of my trademark sound of rhythm programming. one of the factors that makes the qy700 beloved is its ability to change parameters in realtime to shuffle, shift, expand or compress the timing of each pattern independently. its touch can be felt throughout the oscillating rhythmic figures that wend through the gauzy pads and drifting melodies. we share the same wavelength when it come to breakbeats, musical taste and melodies, arovane continues this ep is the beginning of something special!

following the release of synkro aka joe mcbride collection of his formative early works earlier this year, apollo recordings is proud to present a brand new ep that draws on the rich heritage of library music. despite having come up during the dubstep era mcbrides music has always resisted easy classification - hand in hand sees him shift his musical focus in a yet more cinematic direction. mcbride explains: the record was inspired and influenced by my love of electronic 80s uk library records like the chappell av series, bruton, soundstage & de wolfe music library. theres a lot of synth work that carries on from my album using my trusted juno-6 / sh101 / jx8p combo with the addition of drum samples via an old akai s2800 i purchased recently. most sounds ive made from scratch on hardware based on sounds used in the library records i mentioned above along with a few cheeky samples.- synkro s signature expansive atmospherics are still very much present, but now they have been burnished by soaring synth pads and pulsing drum tracks that call to mind the haunted melancholy of john carpenter or contemporary such as legowelt or andy stott. rhythmically hand in hand sees mcbride moving somewhat away from his usual off kilter programming inspired by 2-step and garage, embracing the steady pulse of 4:4 which turns out to be an effortless fit.

following synkro aka joe mcbride 2015s stellar debut album changes, apollo recordings is proud to present a collection of his formative early works. this 12inch sampler follows the 17 track album. the a-side contains three tracks from the 2cd set and the b-side has three tracks from this period that are previously unreleased but that are in high demand amongst synkro fans.

med school music veteran bop launches his own label microfunk music. the first release contains 4 minimalistic tunes, starting from the chill autonomic moods and the lovely nostalgic arpeggio of *telescope* written by bop and synkro, moving to nuages fragile synths and luscious summer vocals, followed by a warm analogue bass in *endless green*. in addition to these beautiful sounds, microfunk crew includes the more energetic, fit for the dance floor drum & bass with strong juke and ambient influences of *crab nebula*. the ep is perfectly completed by dissident with his kind and even slightly infantile soundscapes in *design yourself*. this vinyl record is a great introduction to the labels unique sound. each song has its own character and tells a specific story, however the wholepiece sounds very organic and will definitely appeal to the intelligent electronic music fans.

synkro has become an increasingly familiar name in underground circles, with notable appearances on gilles petersons brownswood and dbridges exit recordings showing off his maturity of sound and effortless genre-crossing productions.
having helped to launch the box clever with a polished slab of halfstep on 001, it made sense to invite him back for another instalment in the 10 inch series. >tribe< on the a is built around a tight rhythmic framework – stuttering drums and digitized glitches form a mesh upon which synkro hangs expansive pads, yearning male chants and heavy layers of sub bass.
on the flip, >here s your< taps into synkros deep understanding of the ukg groove, stripping out a 2-step pattern to leave a skeletal beat - slowly new elements are added, bringing in lush organs, sparkling arpeggiation and cut-up vocals.

synkro & indigo are a welcome new addition to the exit catalogue. after both their solo contributions to the mosaic vol 1 compilation they join forces (as they very often do) and provide two tracks that fully explain why they are pricking up many ears at the moment and building a solid fan base. never afraid to write music from the heart rather than trying to fit a mould, they bring a refreshing and inspirational sound to the table and exit records are proud to provide an outlet for their work.

red006 comes to us from none other than synkro. his fans know him from his deep & melodic excursions into bass music and this release is another fine example of what the man is capable of! a. viewpoint. a shuffling, steppy break moves things along while serene keys and pads keep things nice and smooth. vocal snippets tie everything together weaving in and out of the background. one for the deeper heads! aa. she said (ft. versa).a tune that has been picking up ears in the last couple months with additional production from versa. a slowed down burner is the serving of the day here. a very tight, crisp kick and snare builds while vocals spring in and out. thunderous bass that will work any system. sit back and take it in!

synkro is no doubt one of the most talented producers out on the dubstep circuit at the moment and this single here shows us what synkro is all about. his profile has been blowing up no end recently and has had a release on med school (hospital) and has a track signed on d-bridges imprint exit, due for release late on the year.
