peripheral minimal is proud to announce the imminent release of, beta evers / spatial relation , a six-track 12- e.p., that also features, heinrich mueller of dopplereffekt. the six tracks contain the coldest of minimal synth and technoid darkness, underpinned by a melancholic sentiment. this is the third release by spatial relation on peripheral minimal, and the first by beta evers.

spatial has always been more exploratory than your average stepper, but with his audiovisual (or opti-sonic as he puts it) project primitives, every aspect of his output blooms outward with android rigour.

niche n bump is a new label from london, started by one of the crew behind the wifey club nights. their stated aim is to make records that djs will play forever, not just a few weeks, and they are taking an emphatic step towards that goal with an inaugural release by the timeless spatial.
the record begins a new phase for spatial, where intuition and chance take over, with whirlpools of echo sucking in disco vocals and reggae samples.

the second serving from schmorgasbord brings together two relatively disparate and unrelated artists, but who both share a uniquely twisted approach to making music. s-max has been doing his thing for some time, running legendary home all things bizarre in house and techno, boogizm, and releasing a special kind of groove on labels such as telegraph, 7th city and karloff. his original track, >ms. rosen dub<, swaggers and sways with the spirit of classic yorkshire bleeps and bass. the groove is house, but the spirit of adventure is most definitely techno. his remix of spatials >corti< takes a very different approach, taking a rolling, jungle-like approach to dubstep and nailing it to the groove with stabbing bass notes. spatial leapt onto the bass music radar late 2008 with his shadowy infrasonics imprint, and quickly snapped heads with his crisp, refined approach to 2-step rhythms. since then he’s done things on his own terms, only releasing for himself and mutating his sound over a series of 10 inches. >corti< perfectly demonstrates spatials unconventional tendencies, lurching and buckling around a perfectly honed splatter of beats, off-centre synths and delirious vocal snippets. meanwhile on his remix of s-max, spatial flips the script once again with a stomping, swung techno angle that hammers the original into an uptempo, fist-pumping banger.

fourth outing from the highly-reputed spatial, and at this point in proceedings the mans work should need no further introduction to the many listeners already up on his sound ? and yet, these fresh productions ? >100402< and >100319< ? mark something of a departure from the so-called >future garage< tag with which he has frequently been associated in the media.

time for something a little different from public release.
eye o is the convergence of a few bay area stalwarts—kevin woodruff, formerly of tussle, and jason schwartz - and “deux o & debut” is their first studio-recorded public offering. the five-track, fifty-minute- long lp is a weaving journey through a pastiche of styles that’re all nephews, cousins, brothers, sisters of one another. kraut-rooted motorik drums reconfigure into more complicated math-y patterns, razor-sharp dance-punk guitars stretch out and dissolve into dubby post-rock atmospherics, synth loops you’d more commonly find in house tracks get grafted onto fuzzy psychedelic breakdowns, hard rock licks lock into chunky industrial grooves.
less for dancefloor destruction and more for trippy weekenders, the instrumental record manages to both be a focused, cerebral, conceptual hunk of fat to chew on and a spaced-out, intuitive ride through the cosmos. for use during those off-kilter small hours of the night just as much as it is vision quests and introspective weekends. it’s rare that an outpouring of so much can feel so simple and sublime.
