the second edition of blue hour s remixed series features four distinctly diverse cuts. mark broom delivers a peak time take of common ground , followed by substance s (aka dj pete) dub driven remix of the untitled hidden ambient track which appeared on reference 97 . on the flip hessle audio s pangaea re-captures the jacking and functional energy of falling lines , then closing the ep is a raw and dreamy electro workout of introspective ii from vc-118a.

pangaea (aka kevin mcauley) is one-third of hessle audio alongside ben ufo and pearson sound - a label and dj collective which has been operating since 2007. the third release on his own hadal imprint is another 4-track ep of techno mutations, indebted to both the lineage of uk soundsystem culture and us/european dance music.

following a string of remixes for livity sound, jon hopkins, depeche mode and marco shuttle, hessle audio co-owner pangaea presents four new tracks for his hadal imprint.

hessle audio co-owner pangaea (aka kevin mcauley) distils the sounds explored on his last record release into a three-track ep to begin his new hadal series. techno meets uk hardcore in 2013.

>do your thing, just make sure you are ahead of the game<, warns >game<, the opening salvo of release, pangaeas new double ep for hessle audio. it is a statement of intent for the entire record, reflecting the increasingly idiosyncratic nature of his music. releases eight tracks are entities unto themselves, each a natural evolutionary continuation of the rough and rolling pirate radio techno he began to culture on last years hex and inna daze 12 inches.

for hessle audios 17th release, co-owner pangaea presents a two-track 12 inch of his own take on uk bass music. inna daze = 132bpm / wont hurt = 134bpm.

the next release on hotflush two presents a pair of tracks from pangaea, based in leeds, uk. after releasing two epic 12inches on hessle audio in 2007 and 2008, pangaea moves on to hotflush, with two brand new productions that have already been receiving great response. bear witness is a deep stepper, showing true emphasis on the low end. on the flip, mosaix is a jazzier cut with a shuffling two step feel. with dj support from scuba, ramadanman, untold, rob booth, dave q, and incyde, these two tracks were also just featured in the hotflush mix for mary anne hobbs show on bbc radio 1.

trusme gets the remix treatment from answer code request, ben sims & pangaea. this is the first of two eps featuring remixes of tracks from the trusme planet 4 album. answer code request takes our future into new territory with two outstanding mixes. remix 1 moves things to a much more sinister & foreboding place. tightening the feel & tension of the original with all the hallmarks of classic berlin techno. remix 2 winds up & coils the track into a searing workout of early 90s hardcore breakbeat. ben sims takes control of ring round heart, pushing the tempo & creating a whole new urgency in the track. this is proper no nonsense heads down business & tight as you like. the mix builds excellently well & manages to produce an epic amount of feel and emotion, dropping in & out of the groove with a sneaky breakbeat & vocal dubs. pangaea tackles one of the albums more esoteric tracks in the unexplained. he manages to work a wonderfully intriguing steppers beat which drops from nowhere after the highly beguiling metronomic extended opening. the tracks are getting plenty of play & plaudits from likes of ben ufo, dj deep, bicep & anthony parasole.

‘temporary insanity remixes’ is a 12” featuring the redefinitions of the two original productions of detroit veteran terrence dixon, turned upside down by three of the most groundbreaking electronic music artists as voiski, pangaea and cosmin trg, appearing alongside label head simone gatto. out022 operates as a modern take of old school sounds, an hybrid union of all melodic techno sub forms – these remixes keep the mental locked groove material of dixon’s tracks, adding emotionally irradiating patterns and each producer’s typical paths.

wncl recordings tenth and final release in its 10 inch series is west norwood cassette librarys own coming on strong. the a side original mix was produced by chris simmonds, legend of the uk underground, and recorded at cross section records own house proud studios. the b side remixer should need no introduction. pangaea strips down the original samples to the bare bones and, predictably, delivers the unpredictable.
