fausto messina is a veteran dj and producer from treviso, a small town on the plain between the gulf of venice and the alps. fausto has been releasing music for more than 10 years and pica pica is his debut e.p. on cadenza. in the track named pica pica a recurrent evocative voluminous chord is convoyed by a classy powerful kick drum and an organic symphony of fluffy percussions and metallic bonks, with a triumphant layer of dense whistles and shimmering cymbals. the extremely intense vibrant rhythms of idiophono contrast with the gentle reverberating harmonies of an ensemble of struck idiophones, angelically flowing in the background of the track. the smooth magnetic flux of planets ballet concludes the e.p. with high style. this jacky stride over a stack of steamy synthesisers and bubbly bleeps is a golden tune for a quivering late-night dance-floor.

fausto’s burnel ep is the result of a collaboration between two brussels based labels called le pacifique records & unknown references. the pacifique side, comes complete with fausto’s trademark experimental house sounds and a remix from aidons antoine. on the flip, wan voager & lbnhrx take things deeper, darker and more twisted.

now on 180gm vinyl and audiophile pressing for this seminal krautrock album. widely acknowledged as one of fausts finest works, iv from 1973 finds these ground breaking german proggies strutting their collective euro stuff on a collection of songs more varied and lighthearted than their previous releases. starting off with the genre defining krautrock, the band sets up sheets of electronic sound that bounce off each other endlessly, creating a kaleidoscopic feel, while the insistent beat conjures up images of great drooling beasts jumping incessantly up and down. the band steps outside of its comfort zone on the sad skinhead, a loopy reggae sendup. elsewhere there are quiet, acoustic moments amid the electronic frenzy. jennifer and its a bit of a pain, while maintaining the deconstructed feel of the other tunes, are downright poignant.
