ltd 2012 repress !! arguably the most popular track on 2562s stunning >fever< album, >aquatic family affair<, was only available on its cd version and a highly limited 10 inch lp sampler. due to overwhelming demand for the track on wax here it is again in full glory, extended and re-cut. half reissue, half remix 12 inch, the flip has the mighty head high aka shed giving his favourite albumtrack >wasteland< the powerhouse™ remix treatment, slow-building and boombastic as only he can. killer.

a year and a half in the making – well, spiritually at least – the air jordan ep soundtracks a 2010 roadtrip through a captivating country, just before the instant rush that became last years fever album and subsequent when in doubt label launch. based on field recordings taken in various bustling city centres, rugged desert landscapes, peaceful cornfields, lively amphitheatres, abandoned villages and ancient temples, the ep’s four tracks capture glimpses of jordans stark and desolated scenery as well as its warm and vivid spirit, channelled and reinterpreted through a simple recording device and a sampler. we hope you enjoy the results as much as we enjoyed travelling.

whats the point of a concept album when no one hears the concept in it? maybe that it sets a boundary, forcing mr artist to go even deeper into the fewer possibilities left. creativity by limitation and all thatÓ well spare you further theorizing. >fever<, the third longplayer by dutch low end scientist 2562, then, is his disco album: a thorough reinterpretation of underground disco music from the mid seventies to the early eighties, with his own birthyear 1979 as the gravitational point. all based on one simple rule: every single sound, from the smallest background shiver to the most obese sub bass, originates from a disco record ¹ no additional synthesizers, drumcomputers or other samplesources involved. disco-edits, italo homages or filtered loops then? hardly. this is genuinely new and retro-free music that respectfully flips its sources so hard even the biggest paradise garage connaisseurs wont recognize what just hit them. or in the words of musical allies martyn and pinch, who independently drew the same conclusion: >sorry, but i dont hear that whole disco story in there. this simply sounds like you.< completely failed as a concept album, then ¹ and all the better for it.

after its first release rework closer moved bass cadets and techno heads alike, the label returns with some fearless offbeat pressure in round two. a side sun touch aint about cherishing the first sunshine in springtime – rather like a fierce ray of light hitting you right in the eye, darkening everything for a moment. killer broken beats, rumbling subs and a gloomy atmosphere run the program until a nasty acid line takes over and funks things up even further. drain on the flip continues where closer (ams01) left off, the warm synth blanket this time appearing as a melancholic drone sequence over beats syncopated to the max. bonus cut untitled is the 2006 original of a tune bass music heads will be familiar with by now... beats from the machines, heartfelt lfo’d chords and arpeggiated bleeps round off this uncompromising twelve.

after his recent release on clone a made up sound (aka 2562) presents his new platform for his own beat freakery. it is no news anymore that dave huismans is one talented guy! his debut 2562 album was one of last years highlights ... and his new album set for early winter 09 will be not create a smaller buzz! in the meanwhile mr huismans also managed to squeeze out some killer tracks out of his machines for his a made up sound project! these 2 tracks will get a limited run on his newly started label. >rework< started out as a sneaky bonus remix but ended up as a killer techno track in its own right, with stomping 4/4 beats, an irresistibly simple 3 note chord melody and gut-wrenching sub bass. contrasting is >closer< on the flip, where a yearning vocal stab spirals around a warm synth line that just keeps on building over signature punchy broken beats and a big b-line, all the way until its climaxing breakdown. highly recommended!
