refined selector and esteemed producer, steve braiden breaks out on his own with the off out label after some excellent releases for the likes of rush hour and joy orbison s now defunct doldrums label. its a good day when there is some new braiden productions to soak up, and hopefully the establishment of off out will see them appear with more regularity in the future. as an opening statement, apex of the sun s way is a powerful one indeed! the title track is characterised by the sort of rhythmic poise we have come to expect from a braiden production, with searing emotive textures rubbing up against some of the crispest drums heard this year. - solar poise- is equally memorable, with strange ghostly vocals trapped deep in the mix and an unpredictable synth careening around the channels.

constantly mutating and branching out, braiden is at the pinnacle of bass music coming out of london. as one of its most able djs, he employs an amalgam of sophisticated techniques and a selective imagination which takes in everything from sumptuous house to the most developed bass music, stopping by future garage, uk funky, juke and unpredictable techno on the way.

sick music 3 sees the revival of the highly successful compilation series from hospital records and as usual, there is a slew of top-notch talent from across the spectrum. expect tracks and remixes from the likes of high contrast, netsky, fred v & grafix, need for mirrors, technimatic across this 26-track compilation.
a rare outing of d+b on 7 inch this sampler is for the dj and collector alike and will be limited to 1000, with no re-presses.

perhaps the most daring of the voodoo catalogue so far, raiden returns for his second solo outing with two numbers that truly explore the percussion concussion of voodoo music.

this is a landmark release for offkey music. it marks twenty releases in the last five years. from singles to eps to an album it has been tough but equally rewarding experience. the label has reached beyond our expectations and we wanted to mark it suitably, thus for this release we are proud to bring you two remixes from the labels back catalogue, courtesy of inneractives spirit & shogun audios icicle.

voodoo/ tribal/ rainforests/ percussion/ new orleans/ folk magic/ latin america. after any crescendo there is the inevitable aftermath. now the offkey group is exploring the depths in front of us, more freedom has led to more experimentation. in this case offkey records #1-18 was the leap towards the unknown space that was above us, now we are allinging within the new atmosphere that surrounds us. after a slight shake up with the artist stable at offkey, we now feel we are beginning to really express our creative ideas free from any past constraints ? in preparation for voodoo music this year raiden and khanage have been busy been creating music that has gathered every set support and rewinds from alix perez, loxy, doc scott, dbridge, c4c, rockwell, icicle, ink & bailey amongst others. the tracks have become anthems for the new emerging sound and its followers. voodoo music will also feature contributions and collaborations with rockwell, loxy, june miller, data amongst others.

offkey number 19 is brought to you by raiden & meth. its a four track extended player and it goes by the name of the mitzi turbo cup ep (feel free to ask them what the h*ll it means). the four tracker houses tracks the viper- raiden/ line in the sand feat 2shy mc- meth & raiden/ sleeze/ meth & raiden- denim & lace combo and has already gathered support from andy c, alix perez, loxy, spirit, teebee, tasha, jubei, ink & friction amongst others. raiden & meth s first collaborative ep follows up on re-up with a huge body of work that will kick off 2009 in fine style.

raidens label always comes with something different from the usual d&b formula rubbish. martsmans track is very impressive, with his refreshing future sound. on the other side its business as usual from raiden with help from khanage, its funky, and not as full on as normal, but again right at the cutting edge. martsman got into drum&bass around the end of the 90s. debuting on new york based offshore recordings in 2005, he released on smaller as well as established labels like alphacut records or counter intelligence in the following years. in 2008, tracks on warm communications and hospital records sub label med school attract the attention of a steadily growing audience also from outside the drum&bass scene.

getting heavy rotation on the club circuit, many will have gone mad to it, few realise who is responsible for it. if ever a track epitomised the raw elements of cutting edge drum & bass music, this is it. a proper nasty piece of beat work filled with twisted self-oscillating bass sorcery that is simply laying dance floors to wreckage. this track has gained massive support from the likes of andy c, ed rush, dieselboy and of course the ok recordings crew.

raiden has worked hard at creating his own identity and as a result earned a strong support network of artists and fans alike. his sound walks the tightrope between techno and drum n bass, in love with the ethos of techno and unable to let go of his love for big bass and breaks.

everyone who knows their drum & bass onions will know all about raiden and his distinctive blend of techno influenced tunes. from being a key artist on renegade hardware to his own offkey recordings, this man has his production on lockdown and now he offers some choice beats and bass for cymbalism! on the flip ex task horizon member uman steps up and reworks the passive resistance stuck to devastating effect. turning the original on its head and slipping in piles of weighty bassline action, uman proves hes worth just as much solo as he ever was before.

first up raiden steps out of his estonian hiding place to smack you square in the jaw with an awesome collab with the sect. on the flip two of hungarys finest offer up monolith, a fine mix of beats and bass that ll fit nicely in any djs box.
