a lethal coming together of two metalheadz stalwarts in total science and jubei makes up our fourth release of 2019. between them they’ve conjured up a duo of first-class drum and bass cuts, both primed for the dancefloor and brimming with essential flavours

total science are back to grace their own imprint cia records, and this time they enlist the musical and technical prowess of fellow bristol associates hydro and war alongside themselves on the reign ep. made up of four killer slabs of fast paced, moving and deep drum & bass, the influence of each party is immediately obvious in each track. total science are infamous for their breaks and rave influences that have often been present in their music since they first started releasing in the early 1990’s. hydro has been releasing music since 2007, working with a slew of respected producers such as break, dlr, fd and halogenix amongst many others. he is infamous for his epic sample collection and the deep and deadly vibe that he brings to tracks. and the young french extraordinaire war has already shown he is a force to be reckoned with, consistently releasing music with a sublime depth and musicality that belies his age – and also a power and punch that consistently rips clubs to shreds. the reign ep brings the finest attributes of each of the parties to the table, and results in a well-rounded collection of music that offers something to a wide range of listeners. whether you want to lock them into a groove, tear the roof off the club, or get them thinking about what will come next in this world, the reign ep has it in spades.

its a well-known fact that total science are massive winners – or weiners, depending which sausage factory you bump into them at. and here with their brand new turn around ep, theyre now putting that into vinyl format with some of their nearest and dearest fellow victors. comprised of four killer cuts that combine a raft of their influences, the title track turn around takes you back to the early 90s jungle sound. they combine once again with symmetry label boss and all round drum and bass badman break for big time winners, summoning the ghost of rave past. the music master calibre steps into the cia fray once again to remix the beautiful ts classic walk the same lines with riya, and they also combine with fellow bristol resident and technical wizard dlr on too close for comfort, taking you down a deep rabbit hole. total sciences turn around ep signals their intent for 2017 – consider this your first warning!

the cia agents team up with s.p.y. for the limited edition follow-up to the ghostriders ep. cool windrush synths and tense disjointed breaks kick off >stay<, before reese hits herald the tough drop of distorted mutato-bass and rolling drums laced with fragments of scorpio and sniper breaks, plus slick bongo licks and sci-fi fx to complete the hyped up vibes.

the second release for the newly-revitalized deep kut label sees the debut vinyl drop by 8bits, aka spinback and long-time total science collaborator s.p.y. >tic tac toc< opens with sparse half-time percussion laid over a seething mass of dark atmospherics and moaning pads - come the drop, mechanical drums and shuffly breaks fill the rhythmic gap, with the menacing vibe completed by ever-evolving snarl bass.
total science get back in the driving seat with >concrete proof<, and their fingerprints are clearly all over this one with crisp-as-f*ck drumwork and thrumming jungle bass. chuck in some tight edits and piercing synths and you have a tidy dancefloor track that will surely work its way into a lot of sets this summer.

atlas recordings is the brainchild of the legendary dj lee. conceived in 2002 and set up as a platform for his burgeoning production output, it garnered a devoted following from the very first release, the huge >udon / double down< from lee himself and long time cohort d.kay. with a bulging dj diary, lee lacked both the time and energy needed to really give it the care and attention it needed and atlas sadly closed its doors just a year later on release number three. fast forward to 2010 however and atlas is making a comeback with lee vowing to make it a success again this time round. atlas004, the first release of the relaunch, is from lee, fellow oxfordians total science and current d&b hot property s.p.y, with two huge dancefloor tracks, ? >relentless< b/w >useless<. these tunes have been getting battered by the select few djs lucky enough to have a copy and have been causing carnage in clubs across the world. they have created a buzz about atlas not seen since the first release and with plenty more music in the pipeline, your sure to be hearing a lot more from lee and his atlas imprint in the near future.
