some might remember the planty herbs from his earlier 7 inch outing on rnt, and now the dynamic dutchman brings his dusty vibes to a 4-track ep of crafty edit selections. family kicks of the pack with a bouncy funk groove, followed by errybodydisco a low-slung house party affair. on the flip we have the flute solo and sample-heavy soundstream-esque stomper today, while whats inside takes us back to the soul side with a boom-bappity cover of a 70s r&b classic.

key vinyl don their scouting caps once again for another split ep featuring fledgling and debuting talents. first up is the plant worker. this french dj and producer isn’t exactly new to the game, but as the plant worker he’s been slowly journeying down harder, rawer trajectories—as the name may suggest. with a trio of eps out already, “iota 001” and “iota 002” continues his exploration into purer techno forms with two cuts of deep, probing, loopy floor material. then on the flip, key vinyl unveil the first works from masked newcomer transient x4. “lost in perceptions” is a jangling sic fi trip to techno’s bleak and pitch-black periphery, whilst “ways to space” sends its cosmic theme off for a spell in the basement, coming out as a monstrous peak-time send off.

razor-n-tape does hip-hop! this 3rd instalment in the eclectic rnt45 series presents the planty herbs, an up-and-coming production talent out of amsterdam. on the a side, the detroit sound gets the blunted and bouncy dutch coffee-shop treatment, and on the flip a daisy-eyed classic gets revitalized over a sampled-laden groove, punctuated with rhodes and guitar stabs.

liss c. presents the third release on his own label. liss shows two original tracks created for those who love a certain type of acid and heavy sound. for both tracks there is a remix, on one side the rhythmic without break of the plant worker, on the other side there is a devastating and unmistakable remix by sleeparchive.

blank code presents bcr002 - beta ep from the plant worker (also known as a. trebor), released on 12 inch vinyl with custom made silk screened jackets and available with an additional track found exclusively on the digital release. beta 01 represents merciless techno, with a pounding kick and unexpected drops that leave the listener gasping for breath. the luis flores remix introduces a subtle swing, making it more danceable than the original while still retaining the ominous tones imbued in the track by the plant worker. beta 02 stumbles in with anxious acid synths and urgent hi-hat patterns, slowly building to a massive climax. mysterious chimes wandering around the sonic space give a haunting feel to beta 03, the eery conclusion of the vinyl version of the release. the eps digital exclusive, beta 04, returns the listener to the original themes of beta 01 – open, reverberating bass accented by the sounds of echoing metallic decay.
