diynamic musics newest release, a full self-titled album by stimming, once again shows why this labels artists are some of the most renowned in the music scene. pacing through the snowy sand white beaches that leave marks behind every step seagulls chirping, and suddenly a steady bass appears as waves crash onto the beach. a dream-like state begins, and as the beat sets in, you are lost in the sounds of stimming. his new album was born in this very state of mind, on the beaches of the baltic sea, during a 5-week retreat from reality in the winter of 2012.

diynamic virtuoso stimming returns with a classic three-tracker, showcasing his skill and everlasting talent to surprise. again and again he reveals that his name stands for quality and permanent transubstantiation. the opener, windowshopping, is a catchy, floating and harmonic groover introducing the springtime, slightly transporting its warm breeze directly onto your skin. epic moog-stabs,string-hits, shuffled shakers and electric vocals are telling the story about of a stranger whos walking around a city-center during nighttime. on b1 stimming comes along with an old and firm friend. south african lazarusman, wellknown from stimmings funk with me or chang , again demonstrates his unique talent to deal with words, explaining that its not stimming but every listener himself which makes the song come alive. november morning is the slowest track stimming ever released so far. its name is program. weird violin-sounds, organic percussions and everlasting groove create a grey and moody vibe absorbing the listener.

label boss solomun delivers the soulful summernight jam -see you everyday alone-, that has a captivating bassline and a groove that makes you sweat. epic strings and sounds of thunder and rain are leading into deep breakdowns with a dark touch. although the track has a immediate effect the dancefloor, it will linger on in your head for a long time. stimmings contribution to this ep is -challenge the air- featuring the soft vocal and bass of david stoltzenberg. its a very atmospheric and intimate track. layered guitars and baselines combined with stimmings signature groove account for a warm organic mood. the echoing vocal phrases underline the floating structure which gives a hypnotic touch. although the track features a typical stimming sound and has enough power to entertain the dancefloor, its is definitely one of stimmings more personal and emotive works

was bewegt einen erwachsenen mann dazu, sich fŸr einen ganzen monat aus der zivilisation zurŸckzuziehen und sich in eine kleine hŸtte in den italienischen alpen zu begeben? im fall des hamburger musikers stimming war es die arbeit an seinem vierten album, das nach seinem refugium, alpe lusia, benannt wurde. die frage nach dem warum beantwortet stimming mit den stŠndigen wohlstandsgesellschafts-ablenkungen. stimmings album beginnt mit dem plŠtschern eines bachs, und in gewisser hinsicht ist es genau das: ein fluss, der in seinem verlauf neue stršme aufnimmt und somit an energie gewinnt, aber stets derselbe bleibt. zeitweise rei§end wie eine stromschnelle, andernorts ruhig wie eine flussbiegung, doch immer aus derselben quelle stammend. ich wollte etwas eigenes machen, eine reise die sich (abgesehen vom grundrezept house) mšglichst wenig an aktuellen stršmungen orientiert, so stimming. wenn man auf das feedback diverser kollegen vertrauen mšchte, scheint ihm dies gelungen zu sein so meint z.b. dj koze: ich bin begeistert. wahnsinnig warm, runtergestrippt, tief, verspielt und vor allem eigen! fast wie jemand, der einsam auf einem kutter Ÿber die meere gondelt und vor seinen kisten sitzt auf ritalin

the new album, liquorice, from martin stimming wasnt initially planned to be an album. there was an intrinsic need for him to express what was going on in this period of life. relationship problems led to a very punk, off-whack attitude to his producing. with seven tracks done and dusted, he figured the work was more than just a collection of weird shit, it was a whole new music experienceÉ add another 5 months of studio work, he named it liquorice. definitely hard to pigeonhole - call it minimal, stripped back, dub, experimentalÉ we think >electronic free jazz< comes the closestÉ no sign of a typical 4/4 bass drum at all and stimming has incorporated his trademark use of field recordings, from a marble run, a pizza slicer, a trashcan, a coffee machine, and an ice train shuttling past to name a few. the stimming esque percussion, which is even more radical this time, has been thrown in with all these facets in his massive melting pot, coupled with some dark emotions to create this liquorice. >this time i didnt use all the main events a groove normally has<, recalls martin
