for is 3rd release on musique risquee, after the well acclaimed dirty lipreading single and is first full lenght foe destroyer, stephen beaupre is back with a really solid record. thats all there is to say. gl’amour as the distinctive signature of stephen beaupré, his subtle use of vocals, strings colored with warm echos layered on a big and chunky drum beat. you can easilly acknowledge is natural sens of storytelling unfold in a brillant way. on the flipside, when you have it, would be an excellent way to summarise stephen electrifying live sets: funky, melodic hypnotic and sexy. we are very proud of this last one, hope you enjoy as much as we do.

we are delighted to announce the wagon repair debut of montreal native stephen beaupre. one half of crackhaus, a long time collaboration with deadbeat, stephen has recently released solo material on labels from musique risque and ~scape, and put out his debut album on mutek’s own imprint in 2006. in honour of the great ancient persian empire, ‘achaemenid’ roams stridently with tight kick, clangorous melodic cascades and prodding rhythmic tones. ethereal string pads and moaning atmospherics imply conflict, narrated by catchy vocal passages from beyond the murky depths. a reverberant rhythmic synth line injects life into ‘lotus eaters’, with static vocal samples and penetrative melodic tones forming sonic structures around deep tom and rattled hat. grossly intoxicating, elements lull into a mellow haze before reanimating into a wildfire finale.

support comes from laurent garnier, mike shannon and karotte. one year after the release of his first masterful first solo album >foe destroyer<, on musique risquée and mutek_rec, stephen beaupre is back with with >fish fry<. for a first release on circus company we can say that monsieur beaupre is striking hard! on a side, >fish fry< is the tipical powerfull and psychedelic track stephen got the secret. thats the one you need to rock a dancefloor on peak time. we could compare it to a volcano. on b side, >stutter< leads us to a more straight 4/4 beat track
