as i m always evolving, every now and again i need to make a point about my latest sound. curveballs has been especially written to showcase the full range of my current sound and features a carefully selected collection of tracks designed for a club environment. riva starr dance musics prolific italian-born london-based sharpshooter riva starr set to release fourth artist album curveballs via adam beyer s revered truesoul records. riva starr has been shaking up the world of dance music with his eclectic and unpredictable palette of sounds and styles for over a decade. over the years, he has racked up numerous accolades and achievements including releasing 3 acclaimed albums (if life gives you lemons, make lemonade in 2010, hand in hand in 2013 and definition of sound in 2016), having a myriad of single/ep releases on some of dance music s most established labels (snatch! records, hot creations, relief, crosstown rebels, dirtybird) and amassing an impressive remix resume of artists including audion, groove armada, dennis ferrer, usher, estelle, london grammar, fatboy slim, reboot and david morales. with all of this success and experience under his belt, the time has come for the talented italian to deliver his much awaited fourth long-player, curveballs comprising of 12 stellar tracks inspired by current club sounds and old school music elements, driven by starr s endeavor to produce music that stands the test of time. the lp s striking opener, always gets things underway and sets the tone with its powerful house groove, warm chord stabs and divine soulful vocal courtesy of legendary house diva jocelyn brown. elsewhere, there s the funk-driven disco-tinged piknik, the uplifting needin u esque disco loco, the dark and commanding the hole (release your soul) and the pounding peak-time synth-laden roller give me love. other highlights include, the infectious breakbeat workout britcoin, the techy electro-tinged fresh and the experimental synth-driven techno gem analhog. the album concludes with 3 fine cuts in the form of the bass heavy tr-909 laden ride, the funk-fueled house groover mantra (early in the morning) and an exclusive deep-house-esque dub version of give me love to round off yet another essential long-player from one of dance music s much-loved artists

over the course of its 15-year lifespan, truesoul has excelled at giving a platform to the groovier end of the techno spectrum, showcasing releases with everyone from maetrik and cirez d, to hot since 82, reset robot and of course label founder and a&r adam beyer. with his new techno orientated project hyperloop, riva starr becomes the latest esteemed artist to join the label. the lead track resilience is crisp and punchy, and made immediately memorable by the 90s influenced house strings that run throughout. when beyer dropped it during his recent daytime set at sonus festival, it was a stirring highlight. ‘fallen angel is centered around a sublime piano melody and is the kind of composition that was tailored made for a blissful morning set. the vinyl version also comes with an exclusive remix of resilience from terrence parker that is only available on vinyl. offering an effective contrast to the original, man-of-the-moment tiger stripes follows up his excellent body trip ep with a powerful percussive rework of fallen angel , injecting his version with an arabic-flavoured vocal.

the brainchild of damian lazarus, crosstown rebels has become home to many big hitters. following on from his remix of satori earlier this year, riva starr delivers his own, three-part tribal beast, adventures in drums. my afrika opens up the ep with what would appear to be a tribal leader commanding your attention as the wobbly synths draw you in. as the heady bass kicks in you can’t help but succumb to the rhythm. on eurovoodoo, alien sounding synths are weaved amongst high hats luring you into a trance-like, hypnotic state. el sonido leans towards a faster, flamenco style sound with tribal singing beckoning you to the dancefloor. riva starr is the alias of east london based stefano miele. he has long been a staple in the club scene bringing dancefloor fire to some of the world’s biggest stages, from glastonbury to japan’s fuji rock. his credibility as an artist has led to collaborations with some of the industry’s biggest players, including the likes of green velvet, as well as remixing for a number of high-profile musicians such as wiley and london grammar. founder of snatch!, 2017 was a monumental year for the label having reached its 100th release.

the underground anthems just keep on coming from seth troxler’s play it say itlabel. next up is assured party starter and snatch! label boss, riva starr. this italian hit maker has long been delivering off-kilter and playful underground house tunes. he does so on his own label as well as cajual and hot creations, always injecting them with plenty of colour and charm, which help them stand out in any set. these latest two offerings are no different, and are sure to blow up dance floors all over the world. first up is the arresting title track, ‘another dimension’, a skewed and sideways house cut with booming bass, bumpy drums and quirky trumpets going off in all directions. it’s a grinding groove that will drill to the heart of any ‘floor and really set it alight. then comes ‘another race’, a much deeper and more direct tune for heads down dancing. it has surging kicks and synths, slinky percussion and an irresistible sense of forward motion that will sweep up all those who hear it. clever filters bring real tension, teasing out plenty of pressure and ensure this one is another modern classic in the making. these are two powerful tracks from riva starr that are sure to make a real impact this spring and mark another standout release from seth troxler’s ever impressive play it say it.

this sublime four-track ep sees the london-based italian-born dj/producer kick the year off with a bang, following a highly successful 2016. the eps title track the basement shit commences the release, offering up a stomping bass heavy raw beat groove, a spoken-word hip-hop-inspired vocal, ever growing warped sound effects and a twisted synth-riff. next, the uk dance music pioneer skream steps up to provide a stunning remix, taking the basement shit into a whole different direction by utilizing some of the original s key elements but adding a much more techier feel to the record. in addition to the original and skream s remix, a special dj tool version of the track is also included within the package.

back in june 2016, riva starr first appeared on moon harbour with a raw remix of paul c & paolo martini s rotation , which turned out to be a track that quickly found its way into some key dj bags and stood out in myriad sets this summer. now the italian house talent is back to make his full debut with a solo ep entitled it is true that is packed with real dance floor heat.
