nice price deal !!! patiently waiting for the year of the dragon to commence, nick chacona & anthony mansfield are finally back with a 3 track ep of epically mental proportions! hector works numero uno duo take on a true journey to house music neverland with the peter vs pan ep. almost two and half years in the making, the boys reveal their many facets of cosmic, sleaze disco and acid wonk. one the a side, pan vs peter is a tech funk heavy slow house burner, that shimmers with dubbed out guitar, thumps with low end and grooves the like the funk brothers at opium afterhours. think vacum boogie meets silver connection and you are almost there. starting off the b-side is the eps title track peter vs pan and its right out the gate ncam drunkhouse maddness. a timeless disco house groove with a bassline so big that we were certain that it was gonna blow out the lathe and never actually get cut (thankfully mastering made sure that didnt happen :). and to round things out, the boys get hard on the acid house tip with terrys nightmare, an ode to the grouchiest bartender at peter lugers steakhouse in brooklyn ny.
the esteemed mr. nick chacona, he of moodmusic, hector works, and 2020 vision fame, makes his stunning solo debut on wurst. we reckon >slice of life< is the mans finest work to date, the culmination of the past decadeÆs worth of his most excellent musical output. taking in elements from both disco and house, the song fits quite neatly beween the two genres, with its slow burning groove, rich synth textures, and a soaring, ecstatic synth solo to end all synth solos.
anthony mansfield & nick chacona drop a double serving of their patented trashy drunk funk. the heat is, as the vocal states, the sound of disco from berlin to san francisco. prepare yourself for smashingly groovy house music thats built to rock a party. burning sensations has freestyle boogie electro break house roots but is firmly planted in the here and now. its a surefire hit with perverts, escapists, sleazelords, and backroom wizards. together, these two tracks are positively on fire additions to the boys echelon.
the ever popular redux label return with a wonderful ep of dancefloor ready cuts by nu-disco dons nick chacona & anthony mansfield having forged a keen army of converts to their hector works label with tracks like the superb >oh snap<, not to mention numerous excellent remixes, the boys have wasted no time in concocting another duo of heavyweight cuts for a variety of floors. redux expand and reinforce their reputation as an under the counter source of secret weapons of the highest order
a dark hypnotic tribal burner with some uplifting 80s synth sounds on top of it that could best be described as radio slave meets lindstrom! feedback: martin eyerer the original is very good! for a track that makes such an impact, the label could only entrust remix duties to a true production don, and jerome sydenham is that man. he delivers a heavy duty blacktro dub that is set to make an impact with so many of you!
another banger from nick chacona on the fledgling speak recordings. >gaze< and its flip >hush hush no rush< is chuggy nu-disco thats straight for the dancefloor with old school traum/spectral dudes broker/dealer providing a remix on the flip too!
ralph lawsons 2020 vision keeps pushing house music forward. the second in our world series hooks up the states with finland as nyc disco house king nick chacona goes head to head with funky finn tuomas salmela. as theres no messing around with b-sides on this series, we cut to the chase and give you two very original sounding tracks, which are aimed straight at the dancefloor
according to a friend from new york, nick chacona is into hugging, the smurfs, biting people and feeling really guilty about it the next day, chewing his moustache, shaving his head, cleaning up cat piss, noodling disco, crying and sharing. well, he forgot to mention that he’s also been recording some of the finest house music to come out of nyc since 2001. his angel dust swan dive on bear funk back in 2005 established him on the international scene but hes also recorded for labels as respected as compost, mood music, greyhound and 20:20 vision. this release sees him delve deep into the guitar dub house that sits so sweetly on bear funk gold, the regenerated id for a regenerated bear funk. a cambria heights affair is sure to please
>through the door< is a classic chacona production - atmospheric space funk, combining more synths than a jean michel jarre stage show, solid disco beats and eyes firmly on the dancefloor. imagine lindstrom on disco biscuits and you get the idea. >the next< wears its italo influences on its sleeve, and will appeal to fans of francisco, morgan geist and chicken lips. the disco synths return (he loves his synths!) and ride over shuffling percussion, a rubbery bass and build into an epic piece of 21st. century disco
a dynamite three-tracker. you'd swear the a-side cut is a vintage wicked crew houser from 1995, as its packed with sweatypercussion, dubby drum echoes and a nasty acid bassline thatwill move the most stubborn dancefloor
nick chaconas debut album has been a long time in the coming, the distillation of a decade of recording and producing for some of the worlds leading electronic music labels.but it has certainly been worth the wait as he teams up with the highly respected moodmusic for the release of >love in the middle<, a collection of soul soaring and inspiring cuts that blur the imposed genre lines into non existence.
at this point you should know that am/tm is anthony mansfield and tal m. klein. this is their eighth record together. you should probably also know that anthony mansfield has another side project with nick chacona called ncam. in other words, anthony is a collaboratively promiscuous producer who likes to make music with his friends. back to acid is am/tm?s attempt to get the world from uptight and twitching to firmly crooked and messy. coveting a return to the halcyon days of tripped out people melting on the dancefloor and raves in the woods, comes this hard hitting trip with vocals by navid izadi. add sweeping 303s and crunchy 808s.. and well, what more could you ask for in a track called back to acid? on the b-side is an extended ncam remix which ups the bpms and attitude. its a family affair.
its been a wild ride since back in march 2009 when the demo of sare havliceks white russian hit landed in our inbox. since then sare has gone onto be one of the scenes musical and dj bright spots. his debut >toscana nights< album in 2010 was warmly received by press and public alike and a series of remixes has firmly cemented him as one of the best nu disco producers around
