since signing to hospital records in october 2012, metrik finally arrives with his long-awaited debut album *universal language*, and believe us, it does not disappoint. having already built a reputation as one of the hottest stars in d+b, he delivers an eclectic blend of anthemic and euphoric tracks to showcase his musically expansive sound.

featuring vocals from jan burton, *human again* is a classic slice of anthemic d+b from metrik ahead of his debut album *universal language* which drops at the end of september. *slipstream* on the flip is a frenetic 303 bubbler. rising and building to a manic crescendo, this perfect piece of techno influenced 174bpm madness adds strength in depth to this essential release. pressing on transparent, orange colored vinyl.

recent signing metrik crashes onto the hospital release schedule with this immense self-titled solo release. hot on the heels of his essential mix for bbc radio one, metrik has forged a reputation for producing top-notch peak time tunes with catchy hooks and uplifting vibes a-plenty.

this is a really strong release from viper and they have once again enlisted the production talents of metrik. on the flip he links up with vocal legend kathy brown to really put the finishing touches to this epic release.

seeing the two producers involved, it goes without saying that the production on >brave new world< is sharper than a cutthroat razor. kicking straight into the tough drums alongside euphoric synths, the track drops into an epic sunrise breakdown with the hatiras vs. space invader reminiscent rave-house build coming soon after. as soon as the house flavour rolls in, it is snatched away again as the drop comes with an almighty rush of cavernous tunnels of wobbling bass warmth. much like the first time you heard clipzs classic remix of ez rollers >ready for love< this is a bassline to fall in love with simply due to the ingenious way it manages to sit somewhere between darkness, jump up and reigned in subtlety.

>the departure< throws away the now standard build, drop, build, drop breakdown structure of drum and bass to create an intense rolling soundscape of claustrophobic out of control intensity. not for the faint hearted or the casual listener, this is true genre pushing madness at its best. flip it over and >the arrival< manages to subtly straddle the divide between influence and invention to produce a track that will find fans both within and outside of drum and bass.

>t-1000< manages to simultaneously evoke memories of raves past with its old school style riffs and dark atmospheric intro and dance floors future with its triplet skip breakdowns and titanium tough beats, alongside multi-layered bass only the biggest rigs will be able to truly handle. flip it over and >learn to fly< is a deeper, more contemplative side of metriks sound. sublime vocals, warming bass and reversed synths create a late night moment of inner city reflection.
