the cocoon recordings very own inhouse compilation series dots and pearls is back once again and takes us on a tour to the expected sounds of the upcoming spring season. frankfurt based christian burkhardt starts the selection of four exclusive and previously unreleased tracks. his -karambolage- breathes spring air and creates an early summer feeling par excellence. this tune will even turn gray and rainy april weather into bright sunlight. on spot with playful and positive harmonies and a very subtle 80 s synthie-pop flavour. this one here definitely makes us want more! next in line is argy, one of our most long standing cocoon recordings artists. his -how late it was, how late- has an undeniable 80s retro charm, too however it follows a completely different direction than burkhardts -karambolage-. this one refers strongly to an early 80s acid sound and reminds us of great productions such as -on and on- by jesse saunders. we cannot tell how far argy s reminiscences goes back but for the ones who know: -how late it was, how late- will bring you back to the great times of labels like rams horn and their rational youth s -dancing on the berlin- wall. brave and surprising at the same time and above all: -übercool-! with -baroon- by markus fix follows another acid track - however, this one has a far more epic flavour full of warm analogue strings and based on a hypnotic arrangement. fix -baroon- is defintely less retro than argys and burkhardts contributions - a deep tech house gem made for the first sunrises of the upcoming allnighter open airs. with -euphrasia- jim jules accelerates slightly but goes also deeper at the same time. his production follows the cinematic mood of markus fix but paints a darker picture. this one takes us on an intensive musical journey. deep, slightly gloomy and extremely hypnotic, -euphrasia- is almost captivating and bewitching and a perfect conclusion for this highly diversified fourtracker.

where -oh year- takes you more to the funky side, -dayrun- is a more techno influenced trip to the dephts of the night. with the hypnotic synths and wobbly bassline it invites you to loose yourself in the dance. on the other side, the detroitesque strings, that glimpse up during the break and the pushing hihats, it leaves you with a smile and your hands in the air. to complete this fabulous ep, markus throws in some percussion and extra deep basslines on -pingel pangel snop-. a track that is filled up with funk & soul, designed to be nothing but a house track with a twinkle in one s eye. a true groove monster.

with >sweet murmur< the duo fabio delletorre and ennio colaci, aka minimono, delivers a funky track, that is carried by a simple deep chord. it spreads the typical oslo vibe. a hypnotic tool with percussive elements, not too obvious, no straining for effect, but deep and driving. so is the flip side of the record, with a track called >house in the house<. it s the first release of markus fix on the olso sublabel. with this pumping, energetic house tool, he definitely points out his love to this genre.
markus fix already known from his release on cecile recordings is back with his 2nd strike and we are proud to present thisr elease on below. this young talented artist for sure knows how to combine the deepness of house with today minimal techno styles. two tracks, two different journeys for the latenightmadness in your favourite club. but as always: listen by yourself
cocoon recordings is proud to present the 4th edition of our inhouse-compilation-series dots & pearls. cocoon recordings never has been a narrow minded and singled sided techno label with just one style to refer to. the bandwidth of artists in the label roster such as roman flügel, minilogue, guy gerber, Âme or even boys noize (just to name a few) proofs that sven väth and his label managers have always combined a wide range of techno and house subgenres throughout all the years. electronic music for all different kinds of listening- and body-movement-purposes
140-gram vinyl plus full sleeve. globally recognized and respected remixers and producers frank lorber and marcus fix are pair up with producer and live specialist filou to launch inter zero ep on resopal. the two remixers are known for numerous releases on cocoon as a bunch of production credits on different labels while filou debuts with his 12-. here, they evolve to focus on minimal reduced techno funk. two original tracks and two remix works on this 12-. rubbery and direct, with clacking perc, freewheeling synth lines, and bubbly, roaming drums. a must have.
TIPTOP AUDIO RECORDS VARIOUS ARTISTS 002 ( 2X12 INCH LP + POSTER + STICKER)
2x12" Vinyl D08.02.16
the second issue of tiptop audio records attests to the labels attitude towards developing a nuanced sound set to become a standard for production.?the line-up for tiptop records includes big names of a scene now described as modular techno, which consists of a fast growing group of artists interested in expanding their compositional techniques through modular synthesizer systems. the vinyl format is a testimony to the labels dedication to produce music in a physical form. the result is a?four side, double lp packaged in original artwork (including a special poster) by italian artist matteo giampaglia, with handmade lettering by caterina scardillo. it is an invitation to a territory of oscillations, and?a trip of 10 (+ 2 extra digital) tracks that reconsiders the concept of sound design applied to electronic club music
all this work together creates a very hypnotic but strong vibe getting completed by some subtle deep synths stabs and some wicked fxs on the base elements, which rounds up the whole vibe of the remix perfectly. two greatly executed remixes that haves a subtle groove swift but also keep the soul from the original track intact, as any great remixes should.

vinyl only release !!! >> come on, be honest. you also have been waiting for this. for more than seven years now, the 27-year-old frankfurter chris tietjen stands, like hardly any other dj, with his cocoon mix compilations for the sound of this label. apart from sven väth, maybe.. so, it was really time for tietjen to carve his music-aesthetical biases finally into vinyl, because for the value-oriented and highly dedicated dj, its a matter of honour to release his tracks in the traditional ep format only.
