damon kirkhams newest album comes in the form of a project under a new identity, mikarma. the album is a cathartic project for the accomplished electronic musician. a catharsis of emotion coupled with a restriction in studio equipment that leads to new creative means and avenues. speaking on the reasons of the self-imposed minimal studio set up he states: *sometimes when you have too much equipment wired up it can be overwhelming and you end up just playing around for the most part.*

system music returns and are proud to introduce the unknown quantity that is karma with his release how ya feel / smear. how ya feel is a beautifully crafted dubwise track which initially sounds like the old rhythm and sound tracks that became so formidable in the 90s. karma has managed to create a masterpiece in his use of reverbs and delays that sit perfectly within the track. the melodic bassline sits effortlessly with the vocal which transcends whispers of jah love. the track has a rough, noisy edge to it which is so missed in this stagnant digital era. this track is a one of a kind. truly mesmerising. smear dub takes us back in time when wobbling baselines were dark and gritty. this is a straight club banger. coki-esque in its format smear dubs groove is in an ever changing whirlwind of bass that seems to get deeper further into the track

funckarma goes in league with onionboy (darko esser), both delivering a track of their own, and a remix of each others. funckarmas rusty w is lush electronics and heavy dubstep at the same time, effective & abstract dancefloor artillery! onionboys remix is a 100% old school electro track, solid as a rock and reminding a bit of old rude66 and satamile tracks. onionboys kokon is an electronic beauty that keeps building up.. tick layers of nostalgic synths over firm beats... magical! funckarma turn this track inside out with their typical and complex idm beat structures that can only be done by the funcken minds. another uncatagorizable shipwrec release, limited to 300 copies, full colour artwork and a download code to redeam all audiotracks and artwork in digital format.

as weve been stalking the funckens for ten years now, after stumbling upon their parts series on dub when we were still students, trekking religiously to the sirius on weekends, eventually spending nights in bus shelters to assist to half a live in a school that only served wine, and trying to organise a bash with them in a squat that burned down a week before the bash, before finally inviting them to an exhibition closing party that incidentally marked the beginning of thin consolation, they seemed an obvious choice for a release for the tenth anniversary of unrezt and the fifth of thin consolation. having already graced thin consolation with an album in 2006 as dif:use (with long-time partner cor bolten), this time we requested from them a 12inch.

great audiophile pressing of 2 sought after cosmic disco tracks on this re-issue pressing. >the violence wont stop< is pressed for the first time on a full 12 inch side. the original albatros release was only pressed on a 7 inch. the rare and obscure space art track on the b side goes for around $200 on the bay. limited edition of 300. dont sleep!

funckarma still going strong! these guys have been with us since the first dub releases and still are trying to push their machines to the max! nice to see their new tracks released on this young dutch label called shipwrec that is doing everything with care! great packaging and free downloads and 4 tracks of crazy twisted and abstract beats combined with a dark melting pot glitchhop, acid and dubstep sounds & fx.

time wave zero is the brand new concepot by christian wunsch. he remixes the timeless borovicka track from regis for the a-side and does it in style. pounding techno with a twist. for the flip christian invites funckarma and cane to do the work on his track called cohoba. while the first remix is straight up dub style, the second is made for the dancefloor.

dubstoned 3 is the long due follow up in a series of dubstep based releases by funckarma. dubstoned 3 will be released in limited editions on vinyl.
