following gary becks hard-hitting remix of dj rush >she is fine< on bek014, he returns with an ep of solely his own productions. >rascal< brings forward two of his biggest tracks in recent times. the title track, >rascal< returns to garys more familiar sound with swelling pads andsynths clad in fading loops and textures. the track varies in intensity but maintains the groove, as it balances a peak time feel with an almost reflective ambiance. >video siren< is stripped and straight-up techno. it avoids over-complication by keeping the elements to an absolute minimum, highlighting his ability to create atmosphere, tension and drive, using a less is more attitude.

words are almost needless here. funked up and driven techno slammer dipped in typical beck flavour. if you think this man is stoppable so youa are defo wrong!

after the success of the first a-sides compilation in 2012, adam beyer has decided its time to release another. with adams stature steadily growing as one of the leading talents in the techno scene and the rise of drumcode, the standard of demos that have been sent to adam have been top notch. adam has now decided to release two compilations with 10 tracks each, consisting of tracks that adam has tried and tested. there are also new artists that have been invited to release on drumcode for this compilation and others who are a staple in drumcodes core family. combining both old and new talents drumcode have come up with something unique and distinctive to make this two-part compilation something extra special.

gary beck teams up with house legend and personal hero mr. g on their first col- laboration together. their efforts highlight both producers uncanny ability to create something that is instantly recognizable while distinctly individual. >all my people< brings a true and unadulterated house sound with a swaggering vocal sample and straight, crisp and assertive percussion. mark broom returns for his second appearance on bek audio with >stag<. steady, rol- ling techno shows the darker, head-down side of the bek imprint and marks produc- tions. intense percussion builds with the addition of a haunting synth leading to the break. stripped back to the bones the track jumps in with powerful effect.

edit-select reach their 10th release, and to celebrate they have chosen possibly the biggest track from the previous 9 releases. gary becks consumed. this monster of a track (which featured on richie hawtins sounds from can elles dj magazine mix), has been remixed by mark broom, and dutch techno legend speedy j. brooms bang bang mix is typical of his dark techno sound which of course fits perfectly on edit select, and speedy j cranks the intensity up a notch, with his repetitive groove that just sounds immense on a big system (when of course played on vinyl). there you have it. the labels biggest release to date, and by far the most limited

edit select number six sees the vinyl release of >on the run< by gary beck. originally released digitally by mezzotinto, its garys biggest track to date, featuring in the sets of richie hawtin, sven vath and adam beyer heavily over the last couple of years. the track has been completely re-mastered for 2009 and sounds just amazing. on the flip we have a tougher and more aggressive edit select update of the haunting original. the remix has received props from the likes of len faki, ben klock, marcel dettmann, and slam over the recent months. another sure shot for edit select.
