hear ye, hear ye, hear ye. citizens of electronica we have come down from the holy mountain to bring you the new formatik! once again with an a-side smasher psalm by the chief preachers format b. catalogue number formatik 005 shall purvey the word of the all mighty upon the dance floors. a holy place where the opening times often coincide with the sunday mass, unfortunately time is sacred so that when hearing the >gospel< there shall be little time to close your hands and pray as the nuns will already be body groovin in the aisles. with the once cold and dank air of the church at boiling point and its radiant smell having already attracted new guests, in this case super flu with their antichrist remix adding some soul to the hooklines. we say hallelujah, hallelujah!

theres movement in the formatik dog pen. the two format : b alpha dogs recently introduced their latest techno puppies with combined, and now theyre showing their teeth again. when dogs meet they dont just lick each others ears but also put on a silver dog tag. seeing as the three legged four leggers jakob and franziskus arent that happy being alone and are often seen dancing over the dog grounds wagging their tales they have decided to share their bowl with sebastien leger, the french production bulldog who always has a couple of remix scooby-snacks lying around somewhere. that is why they have given him one of their dog tags and have mutually decided that legers own dog club mistakes music will be going walkies with formatik on a regular basis. only the lady and the tramp is more romantic than that.

played by anja schneider !!! the first catalogue number from the house of formatik comes from format:b the a-side (hotrod) is a pushing, wooden battering monster in the typical format:b manner the hugo remix gallops through the house arena like a thoroughbred stallion. extremely wonky breaks paired with a post modern house beat makes it the perfect alternative. redux on the b-side is a heavyweight techno layout. sirens, massive baselines and a dark atmosphere that sometimes, but only sometimes, reminds you of old black and white horror films make this track the perfect addition to this first ep.

berlin wonderboys mitte topseller and local uberheroes format b with their first album and in best shape. >steam circuit< comes with a lot of pressure and fun, but is by all means everything else than just a load of hot air. franziskus sell and jakob hildenbrand did allways stand out with their highly energetic tracks, strongly orientated on the club without loosing musical integrity, funkyness and the joy of playing around. their releases >like a techmachine< or the extrem successfull ep >bronson road 69< used to be little milestones in floorfriendly minimal techno and highgrades label history. from the dark bouncing >edding 850< to trips into more acid-like areas with >boot cut< or the easy rollin stuff >like a techmachine< towards a point when vocals come into play, format:b go one step further. as with >si pero no< which has the clear potential to hit the scene like >hay consuelo< did. in cooperation with jake the rapper in >something suitable< - where they combine their trademark sub-basslines with hypnotic sounds and deliver in combination with jakes vocals, the perfect instant-clubbanger. all in all, its a wild ride on the zeitgeist of clubsound, powerfull tracks which seem to never loose their breath. an extensive autumn clubtour will drop the whole tour do funk life, catch them if you can

yes! format b are finally back with their second release on stil vor talent. after massive tracks on opposum and highgrade rec, their newest ep on stil vor talent is another huge minimal monster. kongo time is typical for the two berliners: a flickery percussive loop with some stretched out effect envelopes over a wobbly drum n bass style bassline place this track between freaky rave and minimal chic. its definitely going to make you trip out for sure! on the flip its the funky mondo time that builds up over some cuts and bleeps until it leads the listener into pure euphoria when the simple loop kicks in. a huge organic subbass and some chopped-up vocal sample add the funk to this delirious minimal hit and when it comes to minute 4:00 you really won t be able to hold your feet still. format b are at the top of their game and we are so happy to have them!
